You can try to ask @blastoise_93 on instagram. Atlas Collectables appears to be in waterloo which is not near where that guy lives (unless he goes to school there or something)

I am confused why not grade with BGS? The unique label could fetch for more vs a PSA 9…
When they graded it, the BGS offer wasn’t public?
Does anyone see anything that would bump the card down to a 9? The back scan looks very clean, I could only see this but it is very minor, maybe the centering as well lol.
So many people at the factory probably handled this card lol

Thinking about it I wonder if this was a strategic move by PSA, grade it a 9 and if BGS ever regarded it to a 10. It can be seen that PSA 9s are at the same quality as BGS 10s. Boosting PSA credentials.

It doesnt matter at all. If they take the 2m the price is the price regardless of the holder and to a certain extent even the grade.

Put together some data. There have been roughly 200 sales of LoTR Collector Booster Boxes on TCGPlayer since midnight of June 30th (so far). Notice that the price was stable until the ~30th sale when the news about The One Ring finally broke and people started to dump their cases for $350/box.
In econometrics/statistics, we call this “regression discontinuity.” Fun to see it play out in real life.
