WTB TMB No. 1/2/3 Trainer card

All the pictures appear to be broken but a nice simple site that that looks like it would be pretty good! I like the layout (it’s not a maze!) and I’m sure everything else can be finished off to make it look really good.

That’s weird, it’s working for me.
Here’s a picture.

What I purpose:
A tumblr so people can upload pictures themselves. It’s the best image hosting. I can then put them onto the website.

I don’t like an idea that people can upload pictures themselves. I think it should be regulated or else it will get a bunch of pictures of nonsense I would assume

No. They submit them on tumblr. No one can see them once someone submits them unless I okay it. I then take them, if they’re good, and put them onto the site.
Do you know what it means to submit?
It’s like, someone sends a message/picture to the runner of the tumblr. Like a PM. Then the person sees it and can either put it on the tumblr, or delete it. I’d put it on the tumblr (so it is hosted), then put it on the site itself.

No need to criticize I must have misunderstood, you never said submit before you said “upload”. I thought you meant anyone could go and add pictures.

The key to something like this is it must be organised and cards must be grouped accordingly, so yes if cards are submitted then okay’d then it would work

EDIT: and now you’ve gone and edited your original post so nvm!

Sorry, I didn’t mean to criticize/sound condescending/make you look stupid xD I totally see how it could have been missunderstood so I edited the post explaining it better for anyone who sees it next.

That’s okay  the meaning of your post changed when you edited anyways so it wasn’t criticismal (word? :stuck_out_tongue:) in the end. I didn’t mean to sound like a dick anyways so we’re even

I’m gonna get working. I’ll get it set up, get opinions from everyone else, then start adding content.

And they should all be scanned, and I’ll resize them so they are all the same size.

I think we may need to define the purpose/goal before doing something like this. I only say this with having the unfortunate experience of people claiming my photo’s as their own cards/rights to photo’s and using image’s without permission (I am looking at you bulbapedia!).

I think we should look at this realistically. What is the ultimate goal and the possible consequences in having another photo album of cards? Not trying to be cynical about the whole thing, I want to see what everyone’s point of view is on the subject. I think that since there are already resources available what will we be doing differently in creating another?

Very valid point Darkrai about the scans. I think that’s a huge issue no matter what though because we all have different scanners

And yes Scott good point, that is terrible about Bulbapedia how the hell did they manage to do that!? It would be a little redundant but the main idea I thought started from trying to keep track of all the holo patterns so we could accurately confirm our predictions about numbers of cards that were printed.

Also, my page looks mighty fine all filled up like that  regardless of scan differences. Amazing that amongst us we have one of every Trophy Pika

We’d of course watermark them inorder to prevent them from being stolen.

Darkrai I still really like the idea, I mean I get blown away everytime I look at the amalgamation of cards in Scott’s photobucket. Imagine all of our cards put into one, it just blows my mind.

But then I’m sure someone will bring up the fact that it might seem as though the cards are more numerous than they really are since they’re in numerous places (ie in our photobuckets and also on this other proposed site).

I like the idea of a central source though. I would gladly take everyones un-edited scans including copies of my own un-edited scans and I could edit them all the same way and post examples to see what you like and don’t like. (all of the scans on my photobucket were edited by myself, some I did a good job with ie trophy pikas, others I didn’t do so hot like the fan club eevee and porygon. I would definitely be willing to put the effort in to get it right on every trophy card if everyone wanted if we made this site).

At least that way all the scans would be relatively consistent and I could then forward them all to whoever is working on the site itself. If we go forward that is

Well I had people from bulbapedia ask to purchase scans of cards from me. I ended up helping a guy out in scanning a lot of rare japanese promos/prize cards and trophy cards. I never was paid for anything, which was mostly because I felt odd about someone paying for a scan. In hindsight I should of been a “good” business man and required payment.

Basically I find out that this scumbag steve claimed them as his photo’s and uploaded them. Apparently you get kudos on that site for uploading pictures so that was his incentive.

Anyway, my point is that the unfortunate reality is that there are a lot of scumbag steve’s in the world. People see opportunities to make money by taking advantage of a communities generosity in sharing material.

That’s why we’d watermark them.

lol a true Scumbag Steve he is! That makes sense, what if we did a nice understated watermark like those that Cally uses on her site? At least that way the beauty of the cards are not too interrupted but security is provided. Would that be good enough to prevent “stealing” of our images or would a watermark be relatively uneffective?

A good FAQ or something like Cally has above her picture catalogues would probably solve some problems. What are some other concerns you have about this Scott? I’m sure you’ve got really good pros and cons to add!

Such as the ones on PokeGym?

Well I am just speaking from my experiences over the years. In the past couple years I have experienced too many people trying to take advantage of each other in the community (not UPCCC the pokemon community in general). Something I have noticed since about 2010 is that there has been a massive growth in the amount of people selling pokemon. This is a good thing for pokemon’s popularity but the negative aspects are the re-re-re-re-selling bullshit that you see all the time on eBay.

I just don’t want to see something that is meant to be good end up being used by someone to make a buck.

I’m gonna start a new thread for this so that we can get a plan better.

New thread!
