Last Nm+ ungraded zard on eBay went for around 2.2k I think, GL

There is an 8 at $3.4k buy it now and one at auction that you could likely grab in that range. Can always crack them out if you prefer not having it in the case.
Definitely a fair offer for NM-M but there just aren’t too many of these not encapsulated anymore, especially anything with potential of being a 9. Nobody is going to want to sell possibly a $6k card for $3.7k or less.

Oh man, you’re in a Catch-22 situation here. Your offer is very reasonable, but I don’t think you will be getting the card you want at all; you should just buy it graded. Here is why you’re essentially in a pretty much no-win scenario:

Cards that are not graded in NM and put on ebay for a lower priced range will most likely have a flaw with them, otherwise why would they not grade the card themselves? It will be pretty rare for a seller to sell a NM-M card below average price, and most likely ask for even a higher premium for the likelihood of hitting a jackpot 9-10, like gottaketchumall says. So if you manage to cop up a NM-M charizard for below average market price on ebay, prepare yourself for a paypal dispute or compromising with a high potential damaged card.

It is smart to go on Efour to ask for a NM-M charizard since most people here are serious collectors who are very upfront and honest with card quality and won’t sell you a flawed charizard. This comes with its own problem though; collectors who are on this forum probably knows that they might as well grade a NM-M charizard before ever selling it, so once again you will have a hard time finding a seller who has a PSA 8+ charizard that is in its raw condition.
My recommendation is to go on this forum and simply purchase a PSA graded charizard through one of the members and ask for detailed pictures to get the exact charizard you want. Dropping 3.7k and risking to get a high end collectable that you are not satisfied with will bring a lot of pain and regret in the future.

Just be cautious when you buy outside of Canada. You don’t want to be smacked with $3.7k worth of import fees.

I agree with most people here, you should just buy a PSA 8 tbh. If you’re looking for a Mint ungraded copy for cheap, good luck. It’s not going to happen here or ebay.
There has been 2 or 3 on kijiji past few weeks, but they never send me extra pictures or info so chances are they’re in less than ideal shape. One had the balls to list it as Pristine. lol

Would the scratch on the front plus whitening on the back already drop this to an 8 at the most?

Exactly. OP will have 0 trouble finding a ‘NM’ copy in his price range, but it’s always going to be a 8 BEST case scenario. Not worth it IMO… Unless it’s a local deal and he gets a great price.
From what I’m seeing though, everyone in Canada expects $5000 CAD for a 1st ed Zard in ANY conditon lately…

Not just that but I’m seeing a shadow through the pokeball which could indicate a crease. Nevermind that’s just the artwork, thought I saw something else. But yeah those edges are like 6-7 worthy with the scratch being that deep.
As for the pricetag, $3700 USD would be under $5000 CAD if you were dodging import/sales tax, else thats around what you’d expect when nearly everything is outside of Canada.

I’ve got a BGS 8 Locally I’ve got the opportunity to purchase… subgradss are good 2 8.5’s 1 8 but a 7 for the surface. He wants 2500 USD. I know it will get a 7 forsure PSA but the 8 is just so on the fence. How would I get pictures in here for you guys to look at the card!

I wouldn’t do it and I don’t even need to look at the card tbh. These subgrades are not good at all. You’re right in expecting a PSA 7(maybe 6.5) out of that deal.
I think the one he linked earlier was US only. That’s the harsh ebay reality for us Canadians.

If you are fine with a 7 @thecharizardauthorty has one for $2k on eBay and perhaps could do something direct for better.
I would advise against spending 2.5k on a BGS 8 as well just by the sound of it. I don’t have much experience with them but I have seen BGS 9’s even that were about PSA 7 worthy. A BGS 8 I can only imagine may even be a PSA 6 or 7.

I live right near the border and have a US shipping address! I forgot to switch my address over. But I found it! The card is not I’m very good condition. The back edges have a lot of whiting and the card is in a old PSA case and is most definitely moveable inside lol. The picture even displays the card on an angle inside the case. Very cringe. There is a nice 8 right now at auction already at 3200 with 7-8 days left lol… unbelievable.
There’s some very suspicious bidding on that one… Then again, one just sold yesterday for $3632 so I guess you’ll have to go all in if you want a chance to get a 8.
The increases are too crazy lately. The 8s were going for $2500-3000 maybe 2 weeks ago.
