I think this is the toughest one! Something truly irreplaceable. One thing I’ll never let go is my childhood jungle set and my prerelease aerodactyl! Condition doesn’t matter with childhood collections.
Well flippin gfs in your teenage-young adult years might be a decent strategy to get some experience and know what to look for when you start going for that 1st edition wife. And I be damned if that is not the most important investment of your life. Get the fundamentals wrong and it might just be the most costly investment you ever. Unfortunately for the pokemon community the rarer older minter better slogan doesn’t work very well.
I’ve already mentioned mine. Mine arnt cards I sold because I’ve only sold off some hidden fates bulk. My regrets are starting with modern. Opening packs instead of buying singles. And two Facebook marketplace friends and family. Money wasted could have bought a complete set of 1st edition base including the zard. Not PSa 9’s and 10’s but same money could have bought ungraded to 7 grades. I didn’t do the proper research I thought base set 2 was unlimited cards. I thought Wotc wouldn’t be on the market and if it was I thought price would be crazy. It’s ok tho I’m happy with where I’m at now
I’ve only been back into collecting for around a year but have made my fair share of mistakes along the way - moreso with missing out on great deals and paying a lot more for them later!
Unless you have unlimited discretionary income, it’s necessary to sell in order to feed the collection, so put the money into something you love! It’s so easy to focus on the mistakes and ignore the wins along the way too.
TLDR - hindsight can be cruel, but dwelling on it is pointless. Learn, move forward and enjoy the hobby for what it is
Good point if we’re talking wins I consider every card I bought a win. About 75 percent of my collection doubled tripled or quadrupled so that’s always amazing
Did you guys watch ZandGemporiums video? He’s sick from past cards he sold and current prices which is why I’ll never sell until its very late in my life or never
I didn’t watch him but I understand prices generally go up over time and it is normally good to wait and maximize profits. I have definetely experienced the exact same thing he is talking about. I have learned my lesson.
If you don’t need the money or think the money could be used elsewhere better, don’t sell.
here’s a link you guys should watch it. It’s my favorite video he’s done so far. I know you’re a member here too. Good job ZandG I forgot user name and don’t want to botch your name attempting haha www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCdKz_D5L0s
