I don’t know who this guy is. Hope this helps!
I think the lack of liquidity will keep large investors away for now. There’s plenty of speculative assets like real estate or crypto that are fairly easy to buy and sell in large amounts. If someone handed me 20 million dollars and told me I would be Hyper Beam’d behind the pokemart if that fund was worth less in a year after I bought Pokémon, I’d probably find around a few million dollars of great stuff and then just stick the rest in a whole market index fund.
That is not how big money works. They buy an asset, value it at X, and get a loan for Y money to go buy more using it as collateral. You are thinking in normal 2D, big money works in 3D/4D.
I hope he never enters. Never forget which crypto exchange “Mr. Wonderful” decided to take a stake in and publicly promote in 2021.
I had to google him. I’ve seen his mug before but always assumed he’s one of those people that only matter to north-americans, like Michael Jordan or Spongebob.
This guy however, he should totally join the game immediately.
I do care more about MJ or spongebob
But even then, if Mike was to collect pokemon, I wouldn’t care lol
If he were interested in pokemon as an investment it would be (with the assistance of knowledgeable people) to buy multiples of low pop cards and control supply
aka accumulate 40 1st edition psa10 zards to control 1/3rd of the supply, ext.
There is no one single card for him to focus on as nothing in pokemon approaches the value of the top sports cards (aka mantle psa10, select 1 of 1s, ext) and thats probably why he wont hop in. He would rather say i bought X card for 8 million and 3 years later sold it for 12 million. As opposed to looking at a huge lot of cards and having to unload them 1 by 1
Probably infinitely easier to do that with any number of more proven asset classes though, no?
eBay sales / public sales would also put a damper on a lot of crazy valuations.
More like Kevin O’ LEER-y!!
Get it?
Leer…the move Leer..
But ya probably.
something like that would be hard to do starting from 0 no matter how much money u have. by the time u get to like 10 at the most ppl will catch on to what u are doing and then just completely jack the price he can still do it i suppose but not sure how great of an idea it is since u will just be the exit liquidity that ppl need
He likes liquidity and pokemon has more inherant risk than what he wants I think. The card he purchased is signed by two of the best and one of them is dead, so literally no more can be made. Pokemon has been shown to have some of it’s lowest pop cards suddenly have more out of no where and signatures are not valued the same as in sports. He might take a stab at it, but I think he will stick to the sports.
Yes.
lol
