why did skyridge prices bump in 2017?

Looking to make a move on a certain skyridge card. Anyway I know the trajectory of cards is never straight up (but it looks that way for many many old wotc cards), except skyridge had a bump in 2017.

I dont want you to predict the future for me, just explain what happened while I wasn’t collecting so I can do my own work. Thank you

But skyridge fell back much harder than others, the zard does have more psa 10s than psa 9s so maybe its just not as hard to grade as people think

The Zard suffered a huge crash after the bump, card reached over $5K and a couple years later it was back to roughly $2K. It slowly went up and if im not mistaken, a PSA9 Copy sold on eBay auction for almost $5K; which was the record price back in the Pokemon Go bubble for a 10.
i assume 10s are worth close to $10K at this market pace. There were several Skyridge holos really undervalued, people were paying $400-500 for packs while there were PSA10 Holos for $200 or under. Many strong ones like Gyarados, moltres, vaporeon were cheap, and nowadays are over $1K.

I dont see any skyridge holo falling down to $200 or less nowadays considering pack value.

Thats how I like to validate my buys too lol, not sure if its a good method or not but if I can get a psa 9 for the cost of like 3 packs then Im gonna do exactly that. In fact when its spelled out that way it makes me think something either the pack or card is vastly incorrectly priced

Cards were undervalued, thats for sure; most PSA9 1st Ed Holos (Base Set) were $300-400 during January 2019; while packs were already on the roof. Right now Base 9 corrected heavily. I think the same happened with most sets; but we need to realize some sets are more scarce than others, reason why some Fossil holos are struggling to raise in value even at this time.
I honestly dont see sets like Skyridge crashing. But i may see Fossil or overprinted ones having a retrace in the near future.
