I closely examined a few cards with this issue again and can confirm that, at least sometimes, the āsquaresā are on the card and not the case. That said, I know they also do appear on the inside surface of cases (and I would hope that is more common than them appearing on the cards).
If they do appear on the inside surface of cases, then it doesnāt surprise me that they would at least sometimes end up on the cards.
I looked at my latest pile of cards to crack and none of have the squares. Iāll find one though and when I do Iāll post it here

Fairly common. Iāve noticed a bunch of the little squares over time. I donāt really care about them as long as thereās nothing obstructing the view of the actual card.
Iāve had a few with the specs under the PSA label itās annoying but seems fairly common always seems to happen on the cards I want to actually displayā¦
Sadly the cases arent perfect. I get its not a big deal but sometimes certain ādefectsā on cases make me pass up on some cards which is stupid I know haha.

I know I am not supposed to reply to a thread this old (sorry admins donāt shoot me) but I recently cracked a card for my binder set and wanted to show that the white squares are indeed defects on the PSA case not on the card itself. Thought some other people maybe interested to see:

It is like a white powder I am guessing case plastic from the sonic welding process. Cards graded 2018 and beyond seem to have this issue from time to time.
I have a few PSA graded cards that have it and a couple of my cards have small shards of plastic stuck in the case with the card.
I was not impressed when my cards came back with plastic bits stuck in the case.
My Japanese Bday Pikachu has a couple of those little squares; good to know theyāre not debris on the card itself.
Consider yourselves lucky with some of these examples though.
I have a Gold Star with fingerprints and smudges all over the inside of the case (both front and back)!
Theyāre only visible when shining a light through the side of the slab, but knowing theyāre there is so annoying.
There are another three fingerprints inside on the back, and one over the lower left of the card on the front. Bloody awful stuff from PSA.
Iām still undecided whether to get it reholdered sometime around 2025, or just hope CGC will crack it to cross over for the same grade or better?

Seeing the white square flakes in some of my PSA cases as well. Very disappointed in that. Does anyone know if PSA will re-case for free in a hopefully flake-free case?
They can re-case them, but definitely not for free 
That case is awful. They need some better quality control going on.

Hello everyone, first of all I am sorry for replying to such an old thread. I just received the slab presented below, which as you can see, features the white particle problem.

After some research I found, that it is a common issue on PSA slabs. However, I found it strage that I hadnāt noticed it on the photos provided by the seller.

As you can see the issue on the second photo seems almost non-existent. I contacted the seller, and he claims that the slab was indeed without the white particle issue when he shipped it. This would mean then that it got worse while being transported, right? Does this mean that the slab is compromised? And that it may get worse over time? Any insight would be appreciated.

When I initially read this I thought cocaine was in your PSA card.

I think itās just the lighting and angle of each pic. The 2nd one is sort of in a shadow so the particles arenāt as visible to me. Some but not all of my PSA cases seem to have these, I do not believe it would mean they were tampered with either. These newer style cases are much harder to get into so I highly doubt you have anything to worry about.
