What TCG cards will rise?

This is why you should learn to play the TCG, as everyone who collects newer cards should

Cynthia will be big once Professor Sycamore rotates. ‘Shuffle and draw 6’ has been seen in many formats and it is always a 3-4 of in every deck. $5-6 for the uncommon and $80-90 for the full art is not out of reach. Other draw supporters like Lillie will also rise. Fringe stuff like Sophocles may also jump as Rayquaza decks become popular and discarding unwanted cards becomes harder when not running Zoroark-GX.

Stay away from Lele as it’s being reprinted in a promo box.

However, investing in modern TCG is never a good idea. We’ve seen this with the reprints of ORAS sets, promo tins, etc. Knowing Pokemon they’ll throw 3 Cynthia in a battle arena deck and the price will tank. Never invest in anything that can simply be printed at the whims of TPCi. If you’re just looking to make sure you aren’t underselling cards, sort out all your trainers and check prices on T&T before selling.

…or just learn to play the TCG

This is not Magic. Investing in the TCG is not really wise.

The market doesn’t follow many of the common sense rules because of the insane number of resellers who keep cutting each other on prices daily.

I love the TCG game and play it whenever there’s a league cup locally, but it’s the polar opposite of collecting, which I have been doing since Base Set came out.

Magic on the other hand is 99% based on playability, so you can see cards spike 500% after a pro tour. This wont happen in pokemon since there’s so many flipping people selling the cards. Look at Zoroark GX after the last tournament it won it should have spiked in price but it stayed the same. This would never happen in MTG…even for promos.

Invest in TCG-strong cards? Nyet!
Flip the TCG cards? Yeah that might be doable as these cards won’t retain their value over time.

Remember when single Holo Rares could get several dollars each? Well those are all most likely by now half a buck or a buck each.
