Quoting myself from awhile ago and still holds true. Learning about unique cards in non English non Japanese languages is so cool

Another big thrill is finding a deal, such as winning an auction or a buy it now popping up

The feeling of getting a step closer to completion. Owning unique parts of pokemons history. Having a nonstandard collection of what i like regardless of what values are or what others collect.

At first I didnt know how I wanted to answer, but I really like the idea of starting a collection and sticking through with the goal to the end even if that end isnt attainable. For me its a strong desire to stay commited to something I genuinely enjoy because it makes me happy.

This. Being apart of that history in a small way is an honor.

The fact my collection won’t yell at me if I don’t do the dishes unlike my significant other…

However I do have to joy of ripping packs together with my wife and she pulls all the rares….living the life man

I think for me, it’s a mix of collection organization and admiration of the card. This is the reason why I own very flew slabs. I prefer finding a sensible arrangement in a 3×3 binder—it’s like solving a puzzle.

I wish I could also include “meeting other collectors” as well. There are a few notable exceptions in where I live but most of the “Pokémon collectors” you’ll encounter here in the Philippines see it more as an investment or new business venture. The good few I’ve ran into were always a delight though!

I really enjoy the whole process of collecting: finding things I genuinely want in the right condition at the price, processing and organizing purchases into sleeves and storage, displaying, forgetting, remembering.

But the most important aspect of it all is not having to care about the standards or preferences of anyone except me.

Opening packs and pulling nice cards out of them as well as learning about the history of cards / variations / sets would be the two things I enjoy the most.

When you get to sleeve your newly arrived cards and craft the perfect binder page. It used to be daydreaming, but it’s mostly nightmares and FOMO nowadays, so it’s better not to.

That high-falutin, sharp-shooting bullet list you got there would make a darn-tooting fine poll sonny

My favorite part of collecting is completing a trio

I love the hunt and the discovery. Really, I just love looking at the cards. I could never be a vault collector. @Joan talking and being with other collectors is also one my favorite parts, it’s just a little more challenging now to find new connections.

Right. Especially when most see only the value of a card and are unappreciative of the art, the history, etc.

Hard to lock down a favorite part as it’s been different depending on the stage I was at in my collecting journey.

When I was just starting out it was researching and discovering a world of cards that the child version of myself had no idea existed. That turned into completing sets in my binder, which turned into purchasing graded cards. Now I’m at the stage where my favorite part is finding and purchasing a scarce card from my wishlist whenever it appears for sale

There are so many things that ring my bell with collecting (gathering), but strangely feel a little empty when the end is near.
