Mmmm this topic made me realise that I though I was wrong about the forum average age. ‘92 kid here, so I guess Japanese base set….
Anecdotally, most people on the forum seem to have grown up during Gen 1. I don’t think the handful of younger people on this thread represents much.
We are the silent majority
I like the thread idea, but instead of providing personal information, how about a poll where you can’t see who voted for what? Then we can get a good idea of the age of people using the site.
The poll could look like this:
1995 and up
1994
1993
1992
1991
1990
1980-1989
Gary
Would be fascinating to see the results to this. But it would be nice to have a bit more detail for late-90s people. Something like this, maybe:
2000-01
1998-99
1996-97
1994-95
1992-93
1990-91
etc.
Fallen Empires what the latest MTG set on shelves when I was born. What a disastrous set lmao
Was still on the shelves when I started playing, ~15 years after its release. My LGS had packs for sale at $1.99 ea (or 3 for $5) for ages lol – easily up through 2012/13.
Something about being around for the start feels really good. That was a wild time and it still is a great time today. The 90’s were a hell of a ride…
Indeed. I was 8 when I first played Pokémon red, it just feels for me it was the exact perfect time and I’ve just grew alongside the first Pokémon gens. It is part of my childhood and it was perfectly timed
This thread is a nice reminder on the avg age of the pokemon investor (and assumed avg income/disposable income)
We aint seen nothin yet
don’t forget me.
Closest English set was Neo Revelation, closest Japanese set was VS series
Im not sure if its just older people arent responding but i thought much more of the replies would be base set.
Japanese Rocket apparently, before base released in english,
I’m in the boomer camp of those born before Pokémon
I was 13 when base came out
The year is 1990. Satoshi Tajiri has just delivered a baby: it’s me.
Alpha - Magic: The Gathering
Zoomers have no respect.
Earliest thing I can remember is POGS and the free D.A.R.E. baseball cards LAPD would hand out to kids. I was fortunate enough to experience the golden area of the WOTC sets being released.
