What do you guys think of surging sparks as a investing opportunity?

Btw if you didnt notice, I was using sarcasm lol.

I think the eevee from Twilight Masquerade is way more beautiful of a card than the pika in surging. Just my opinion. SS reminds me of vivid voltage. Everyone was so hype about that pikachu but the set flopped over time and one card couldnt hold it up. The fact that the SS pika is a bubble 3d “vmax like” artwork just dulls it even more for me. The latios isnt really a game changer either. Will the set go up? Probably seeing as though every english set that has ever been released in pokemon history is has gone up. I just think there are better sets to wait for like the new eevee set coming out with much more variety.

I am a firm believer that investing in modern sealed is dangerous, it’s something everyone else is doing. The scary thing is the others doing it are spending their last dollar doing so. What happens the minute the economy tanks? Modern supply will be flooded and also crash, as these people need money to stay afloat.

Onto the topic, Surging Sparks is readily available on Pokémon Center. No need to worry about supply of sealed.

For whatever reason Pokemon center is the last place people check for sealed lol. I remember fusion and LO were still available at 144$ while tcg surpassed 200$ for months.

It’s a testament to the types of buyers these products have and it’s something I would personally never feel comfortable “investing” in.

Now buying for the easy free money I have been known to shamefully partake in… But that’s a dark part of my lore

Vivid voltage didnt have nearly as much hits as Surging Sparks, the set identity is better, lots of variety in terms of artwork, and prices have been surging for a lot of cards. Latios and Latias are fantastic arts along with EVERY OTHER pokemon full art released in this set. I’m actually kinda pissed that you said a Eevee set has more unique works, its a EEVEE SET, the equivalent of a bare bones brainrot set that only brings in scalpers and cash grabs.

Stop hopping on the next evolving skies like a Whatnot streamer and get with the collectors.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything but extreme forced positivity from a whatnot streamer. Or a viewer for that matter. Sometimes there’s a little bit of negativity or price checking and those types of viewers are quickly silenced to keep the sheep happy and paying

I quoted only part of the context. I don’t agree with the principles of Whatnot or any pack breakers, for reference.

There has yet to be a stonk dog investor bro eevee set as stonk dogging wasnt a thing for any of the others, of which Eevee heroes is the only one id say is truly an eevee set.

idk how an eevee set could be considered brainrot

Its not brainrot in that definition, it’s more like a way to just say its the same or just a copy of things we’ve had before with no variety or changes. Any set defined with a paticular chase or reoccurance is a certain pokemon set. Surging Sparks was quoted as a “Pikachu set” even before it released.

I’m going to stop talking about this, as its not gonna do anything but derail the topic into another set that isnt about the title above.

Prismatic evolutions is a better choice to stonk dog on over surging sparks.

We are in the junk wax era. I got banned from Reddit for saying that, ha!

Counterpoint: Pokemon is stronger now than Star Wars ever was or ever will be. Why not buy some boxes if every set AND product ever in the history of the tcg has gone up in value in both english and japanese? Bonus points if you bought before its current price!

Toys are also significantly bulkier and harder to hide away in closets.

Pokemon has a continued history for nearing 30 years now. I guess we are all gambling on its future, but i have much more faith in keeping some modern sealed than just about any other collectible. Surging sparks has the same going against it as any other modern set, but that doesnt make it less a good choice imo

I think this is a super underappreciated part of collecting that people don’t often think about. It’s very easy to own 3000 pokemon cards and very hard to own 3000 Funko Pops

I also think people overestimate supply of sealed product and underestimate how much is opened. As if the guy who bought a closet full of booster boxes on a whim and posts to reddit is making the prudent choice of holding for 10+ years. Most of these people are selling on a whim too, making a small profit or even losing money because they just need the cash. And more often than not, it’s going to someone who’s opening it.

Me in my Scottish house dreaming every night of owning that 500 acre warehouse in the sunny Midwest that I bought for a bag of apples, that I can fill to the rafters with collectables and get a distribution relationship cos I now have a “physical store lol”.

if you are doing something like this just buy a case or two and set it in a closet for 3 years. although when ppl “invest” in sealed i figure many dont really have a plan of how they will eventually dump it

Financial freedoooooom! :scotland:
