I am a binder collector and most of my cards are cracked 8s and 9s. I do not like to collect less than that. Anything that fails the “at a glance” test - which is to say has an immediately apparent flaw upon casual inspection - gets replaced. I just sell them back on eBay to subsidize the cost of the replacement.
I think “excellent” cards, even though people apply this generously sometimes, are perfectly collectable cards. They are lower than my preferred standard but I prefer to return them to the marketplace so someone else can be happy with them.
If I didn’t had the card yet, it goes into my binder.
If I did already had the card, the worst condition of the two goes into my box of duplicates.
Condition is irrelevant in the above, whether it’s mint or heavy played. I even have some foreign Sun & Moon era Energies that were folded in halve and used as protection for other cards in my binders, rofl.
As for what to do with all those duplicated cards, that’s a complete different question which I honestly don’t have an answer for either. I plan on selling them (in the near future), but considering I have 12k+ duplicated cards in all 14 languages (actually, Polish and Russian probably not) and every possible condition, I’m not sure yet about the best approach to sell them…
Same. Scratches off-centering whitening etc. are all welcome and they’re a fraction of the price. As long as the curling is minimal enough to not stand out in a deck then I’m happy.
i card saver any pack/deck fresh c/uc that looks gem mint. Obv some come with whitening out of the pack but I have a lot of random gem mint non-holos waiting for the right time. I figure the art is still great and the sealed product is so expensive its worth preserving them just in case
