What are your favorite pokemon from gen 5 and onwards?

They had a lot of really cute Pokemon in gens 5-8! Emolga, Minccino, Cinccino, Dedenne, Yamper, etc

Gen 5 was a beast, period. I can’t start writing, it would just be a huge wall of text.

Gen 6, for all its shortcomings, had Mega-Pinsir, Malamar and Mega-Banette, three of the coolest designs ever. Shiny Mega-Garchomp…juicy! The Soul Calibur family of course. And Avalugg, which feels old school in a way, like a Kanto mon for some reason.

Gen 7? Toxapex is S tier. Alolan Sandslash is so beautiful. Kartana, Celesteela, Araquanid and Ultra Necrozma? Fuck yes.

Gen 8…Sandaconda, Eldegoss, Grapploct…all modern classics. I love Galarian Darmanitan and Fat Controller Weezing.

Also an incredibly freaking Pokemon to fight against.

  • immune to Ground
  • its ability is Static so you end up getting paralyzed most of the time
  • has Double Team

Ugh.

The most underrated generation ever.

  • a completely new Pokedex, so every Pokemon you catch is brand new
  • the Pokemon are callbacks to Gen 1
  • ridiculously cool designs
  • outstanding storyline
  • actually a decent level of difficulty relative to other Pokemon games

The fact that the Unova region is based on where I live (the New Jersey/New York area) makes it that much better for me.

I absolutely love Gen 5.

@mjs61290,

Hidden grottos, fishing spots, a fantastic map, everlasting TMs, the whole Ghetsis storyline, grinding exp with the Chansey/Blissey trainers in the White Treehollow of White 2. The fact that you can fish for Dragonite outside of Dragonspiral tower…I mean, come on!

Solgaleo, Corviknight, Dragapult, Zoroark, Chandelure are probably my top 5, post gen 5.

Honourable mentions to Rowlett, Whimsicott, Inkay - these Pokemon just have that unmistakable Pokemon charm and characteristics that make me think they’ve been around a lot longer than they have.

Although the design is good and cute, as someone who’ve watched the anime, all I can remember is how f-ing annoying that Pokémon and its voice was, haha. :relieved:

Marshadow is my fav… I wish there were more rare cards of him ):

Glad to finally see someone else mention Druddigon. One of my favorite Dragon types. Its design is certainly a bit polarizing, but I personally love it.

I’ll try to limit 4 per each.

I have to say, as weak of a base game as S&S was, it had some stellar designs. I feel like I poo-pooed them originally, but they’ve really grown on me.

I’m surprising everyone and saying alolan grimer and alolan muk \o/

…but if you count those out it has to be yveltal, one modern pokemon i’ve seriously consedered to collect earlier. Other than that, it got me off guard how much i like the new regis, really great designs!
