In all seriousness, yes. All bids or buys on Ebay are legal binding contracts and you are committed to buy the item. I believe Ebay does warn you everywhere about it whenever you try to buy an item.
After looking around on the net for a bit, those binding contracts aren’t exactly enforced all that often so you ‘could’ leave it alone and not pay for it but I would really advise not to do that.
EDIT: You are allowed the option to cancel within an hour after buying it or winning it if you’re feeling buyer’s remorse, and you can still message the seller even if the hour passes, but the final decision of whether it really is canceled or not is at the discretion of the seller.
It is a legally binding contract but it would require a lot of time and expense on the sellers part to bring the suit. EBay will not assist IN ANY WAY,
In other words…that contract means absolutely nothing.
You bid on the item, you won it, you should pay. Take this as a learning experience to do your research next time before bidding on an auction of loose packs, especially older ones.
If I was the seller I would not cancel the order and I would ban you from bidding on my auctions if you did not pay.
You won the auction, with loose packs there is never any guarantees, the vast majority of loose packs I’ve ever bought have actually been unweighed, so loose doesn’t automatically mean weighed
I don’t really know why I did it in the first place. I won’t have any money left for the month if I do indeed pay for these items. Cheers for the advice though.
After it had finished I asked for it to be cancelled straight away. The person only got back to me in about a hour and a half. After I had sent my message.
Seller is trying to scam the eBay system.
He going to private invoice you @ticktock2 so he doesn’t have to pay PayPal fees and for eBay it stays as unpaid. After 2 weeks of being an unpaid item eBay will automaticaly go into system of item not being paid and refunding the sellers eBay fees and give him a ‘free’ relisting of that item.
If anything wrong, you cannot claim or go to eBay to try to get your money back.
Also, seller is still able to leave feedback to you which can be negative.
Yeah, of course he is trying to save eBay fees, but he will still have to pay PayPal fees unless he does friends and family.
You need to re-read eBay’s feedback policies, try not to find a link from the 90’s. Sellers can’t leave negative or neutral feedback to buyers.
I believe ticktock2 should be covered if it is a business transaction with PayPal, you can claim with them as well.
Personally I would take the unpaid item strike. Might screw you up for a month of eBay though. I know my settings are 3 strikes in a month and you can’t buy anything from me, and that was auto setting at least when I did my settings. After a month you would be back to normal, at least by my settings.
Edit- You bought the packs, I personally think you should go through with the transaction on eBay. Lesson learned, cancelling it like having rich parents bailing you out whenever you do something wrong, no lessons are learned. Last year I had two similar plush, I sent the wrong ones and realized it a few days later. I contacted the buyers and re-sent EMS. Probably cost me an extra $20 over sending registered airmail, but it was my mistake and I am now a lot more careful when pulling orders and making sure similar items are in different bins.
The messages you have shown only state that they themselves have not weighed the packs, which doesn’t equate to them telling you they’re most likely weighed
