Was it worth it?

Hey guys, i bought these from ebay just an hour ago. It was the EX Dragon Frontiers Booster Packs x 12 for $99 (£62.67)

It seemed to me like a deal but just wanted to get your thoughts on it.

I think that DF packs for $8.25 each is a fair price.

Thanks

Good deal, but eBay is always risky when buying unsealed products. Many people weigh packs *cough @blastoiserules1 cough*, and then sell them. There’s no way to confirm that unsealed products have not been weighed, so figure that into any purchase.

Note: @blastoiserules1 is pretty awesome and would never sell weighed packs. Just a friendly jab.

Weighing or xraying aren’t that reliable ànyway are they?

They are incredibly reliable. Its not 100% but it nearly guarantees your chances of a holo/ex. Many sealed item collectors will weigh packs from booster boxes and then keep/PSA grade the sealed packs, with the peace of mind that there’s nothing in there. It is well documented that it is an efficient, yet unfair way, of getting rare cards.

Haha… I don’t know if that works…

It would be interesting to own an xray machine and try though.

But old booster packs? and foil pulls? I don’t think you can tell the weight difference? I can see it working on some sports packs and other non sport packs where chase cards are a lot heavier, and different textures. But old pokemon foils… I don’t know.

Also, fair price on the above.

Weighing Packets?? Never heard of that before, i guess i never thought that packs with holo/ex would weigh more.

So after weighing, the packs people keep are the ones that will have the Holo/Ex and ones they sell will probably not have them? Interesting :relieved:

Ehh, old fashioned way for me. Keeps the pack opening more exciting

I weigh packs. But, don’t sell them, lol. My thought price-wise is that its decent. But, they are probably already weighed? Usually, they go for around $10 a pack…

Weighing Old Packs works also. Holo packs are typically 0.2-0.3 grams heavier. It worked on my FireRed/LeafGreen packs. I bought 4 packs for my Sealed Collection. Weighed them and opened 2 of them. 1 Holo Exeggcutor wasn’t worth opening the pack for on a $15-$20 pack. But, the other pack had a SR Articuno Ex Shard Holo. I PSA graded it and it got a Gem-Mint 10! A Nice addition to my Collection! The last 2 packs out of that lot are in my Sealed Collection.

I love when people who weigh packs say they don’t sell weighed packs. It perfectly illustrates the inherent ethical hypocrisy. You understand that selling a weighed pack is wrong, but don’t understand the wrong in selling the individual card you pulled by weighing the pack.

I think it is ethical to, for example, purchase a booster box, weigh the packs, open the heavy ones, and keep the remaining sealed packs as collectors items or PSA grade the packs. You’d get the same cards if you opened all the packs. The only thing I think is wrong about weighing is when someone does it in a store or does it and then sells them without explicitly saying they are weighed.

I guess we’ll have to see when the packs arrive

This. In the past when I have weighed packs from my booster boxes, I usually auction the remaining packs but always state that they have been weighed, so the bidders can decide what the packs are worth to them. I’ll either keep the Ex’s/Full Arts I pulled or trade them.

Is there any difference in weighing and position pulling? I do not remember the product, but about 12-13 years ago. I was at a store. The clerk was talking to his friend? He grabs a box, opens it. Grabs a top pack inspects the contents. Counts down, pulls a pack, opens, and gets a chase card. I heard this was possible with Pokémon. I have never order enough boxes of a set to learn if it exists, but in theory it would have better results than weighing.

Position pulling exists for Dark Explorers. It is why the box prices are so incredibly high.

This guy is able to map out a case. Is this something that can be done for all English releases? Anybody know? Opening a 4th Sealed Box of Pokemon HS: Triumphant Trading Card Game Booster Packs - YouTube

I guess this is why I’m the only one with hundreds of base 1st Ed rares. Nobody opened the non holo packs but me.
