I have looked in several locations for price data. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be much consistency or volume of sales data. If anyone can help me ballpark this card or point me to the right resource I would appreciate it. For reference the card is in around PSA 5-7 condition.
putting together the limited amount of (sold) listings on ebay, I would say around 1000$. It will not hurt to get it graded valuewise.
The term everyone uses for this card is, (Hitmonlee cigar error). These are rare errors that do not come up often. Currently 3 listed on Ebay last two sold in Aug and Sep between $500-$1000 ungraded. I currently have one in my collection which I absolutely love, congrats.
Since there is so little data. I’m tempted to list it for for a high price just to feel out the market. Possibly get it graded depending on the market.
Thanks. The funny part is I got it as a throw in with a lot of base starter holos and 1st edition fossil holos. Honestly, I don’t think people even noticed the misprint.
I never understood why everyone used that term for this Hitmonlee ink stain error, because the actual cigar error looks like this:

Just listed it on eBay. At this point I want to field offers so I can get a ballpark figure. Maybe it can help others determine the value of theirs since there is such limited data. I’ll keep an updated list of all the offers to keep everyone updated.
