UV-C card damage

Hi guys

Recently another one of my cards grew mold again :confused: thankfully it’s a cheaper one this time and not the psa 9 1st base zard. To be fair it was stored in a place that was prone to hudmity so I sorta guessed that it could happen

I recently bought a UV-C light tool, but read that UV-C can damage art. Wanted to ask if anyone has tried using UV-C light on their cards before and if it causes any damage?

Thinking of putting my entire collection through it before storage

I would not know if this specifically targets art, but UV-C is a very powerfull kind of radiation. This is the stuff that gets absorbed by the top layer of the atmosphere. If the atmosphere would not do that, everyone on this planet, especially people living close to the equator would get skin cancer in no time. This is to illustrate the power of UV-C radiation. Like I said, I would not know if this is the case for art as well, but I would not use it if there is no one else with experience on this topic, this is especially the case for extended periods of time.

Hey, could you show a picture of the mold on the card?

  1. have you tried sealing with tight fitting plastic such as SFI sleeves?

  2. do you have a dehumidifier set up in your room?

  3. you can go to daiso or other places to buy dehumidifying beads

  4. place your cards inside an airtight container

  5. decontaminate your current safe deposit. there are spores already present.

Try it out in high doses on a cheap card first before using it on your slabbed card.

Preferably a moldy card.

Ugh, I dealt with this recently too…I let it sit in the sun for two days after trying it out with a cheaper card first - there´s no sun fading or anything like that and it shrunk the mold considerably - it also stopped expanding.
