Unlimited L1 Legend cards?

It’s always crazy that things like this are still being unearthed and discovered.

Well this changes things…

Wow.

Well they look a little rough. Hoping it’s just a worn down stamp like some others I’ve seen

Might be good to know if this is possible (to cleanly abrade off the stamp). Otherwise, a lot of new “unlimited” cards will be showing up

So, I took a page out of @pfm’s book and opened a photo editor. If you look closely at the bottom left corner of this card, and boost the contrast… I believe it’s possible the 1e stamp on this card is faded, was removed somehow, or has been photoshopped out.

Here’s the 1e stamp on another copy of the same card for comparison. They look similar to my eye.

Well done, with that contrast you can indeed see the vague 1st edition stamp.

That Crobat and Typhlosion Prime on the other hand. :eyes: Especially with how the light is reflected on the Typhlosion, it doesn’t look like the 1st edition stamp is rubbed/acetoned off somehow.

I hope it’s not true, since I’m not looking forward looking for an unlimited edition L1 Pikachu  I already have enough ‘non-findable’ Pikachu cards to worry about, haha.
But just like the unlimited edition L1 gen 2 starters and LEGEND cards, it’s plausible there was some kind of promotion for (some of) the Prime cards? :man_shrugging:

Trying to replicate your results on my side, which software and method did you use to boost the contrast?

Update: Got a similar result increasing the mid values using levels in photoshop

Answering to follow this closely!!! Huge discovery

Although the possibility of removing the 1st Ed stamp is scary to think about. Does someone have an extra 1st Ed card and a bit of acetone they want to use in the name of science?

Hell yeah.

Forgot to post this but the owner posted a video of the two cards:

With the way the swirls are positioned (in the top-to-bottom axis), it’s possible these two cards could have come from the same exact sheet?

Good eye! I would say there’s a high chance as they do line up. I’m hoping more show up soon.

Thanks for sharing! What’s with the damage at the back, though. Were these taped once?

The damage on the front also looks like it’s from tape and looks pretty identical on both cards, for what it’s worth.

It does appear as both sides were taped at one point as you and @bbobrob point out. For both cards, it doesn’t appear to have any adhesive damage near where the 1st edition symbol would be, so I don’t believe these to be tampered with. Not that anyone is making that claim but it was a thought that went through my mind.

Also, I was going to reach out to the use that posted the pokemon communication trainer but I do not want to come off as confrontational :pikasweat:
