Unlimited L1 cards?

A third has has popped up, from the same user that posted the typhlosion and crobat..

Interestingly enough, they have all been prime cards. Not sure what to make of it tbh.

mods feel free to make this its own thread since op was about legend cards.

Since the L1 gen 2 trio were also briefly mentioned, I think it’s fine to keep it in a single thread. But maybe we’ll need to remove the Legend part from the title. :person_shrugging: I’ll leave that decision to OP @thymeee, since he’s still active.

And cool to see a third unlimited L1 prime.
One thing I notice with all three of these Prime cards however is some damage in the description. Not sure if it can be a clue on how these might have been released. Or they all came from the same store whom once accidentally put price stickers on the card itself instead of the sleeves. :man_facepalming:

@rtas Do we have pictures of the back of the Blissey? I’m curious if we’ll see the same damage there as well from my previous comment:

EDIT: Oh, I now notice the playmat in the background is the same in the Blissey as the Crobat and Typhlosion. So all three of these are owned by the same person?

No photos of the back or video like last time. Here’s the x post.

You are correct, same owner has all three and hasn’t commented on their origin outside of it being unknown. Here’s the only other photo showing all three:

The consistent surface damage seen on all three makes me believe they have either been tampered with or perhaps they made it out of the factory unintentionally. The user has repeated how the images are not photoshopped, which is a red flag imo but their post history doesnt strike me as someone who is falsifying this for whatever gain.

They released a video of the Typhlosion and Crobat (now unavailable, I think?), which at least debunks straight removal of the stamp through Photoshop. The consistent damage is sort of weird.

Yeah, I had the same thought as well, that they might have been discards from the factory somehow.

I think it’s not too big of a red flag, considering someone posted that photoshopped Pokémon Communications card in his Tweet’s comments last time. :person_shrugging:

The damages at the same positions, and them all emerging at the same collector, is a bit weird though. But he might have gotten this Blissey at the same place he got the previous two from.

Fascinating, it’s really interesting that they’re all Primes and display similar damage. I really wonder where this Twitter poster got them from.

While the information currently in the thread is not what I had in mind I am completely fine with changing the title of the thread. The current information is more interesting than what I had to say though. You can decide what you think is best and change the op if you want:)

I only see this reply now, but I’ve removed the Legend from the title in that case.

And for completeness sake, although the L1 gen 2 non-holo starters have been mentioned, I didn’t see any pictures yet in this thread, so here all three of them to have it all in this thread:

Does @Typhlosion_Collector know about this :eyes:

Pretty sure there was some image analysis done in another thread or further up in this one where you can faintly see where the 1st Edition mark is visible but worn down by some method.

That was for the Pokémon Communication in the comments of the Tweet. The mystery of the three Prime cards hasn’t really been solved yet, although I still think it’s sus that all three came from the same source and have the same type of damage on the fronts and backs.

I still think they’re some kind of factory discards tbh. Although I’m still curious why they would make unlimited editions of them in the first place.

Are 1st edition stamps in Japanese also added after the fact? I thought they were always printed alongside the card, unlike the WotC cards?

I was just thinking about this last week, I didn’t see the user get back to you after saying they were going to ask the original owner. I’m on the same camp as these made it out of the factory rather than being tampered with.

Indeed, but I left another follow-up comment to see if he responds to that. I don’t use Twitter at all tbh, otherwise I might have noticed he didn’t had responded sooner, but I guess this thread was a nice reminder.

Another interesting bit today, a Jp Mercari seller has made the claim that unlimited gen 2 starters were apparently distributed to factory workers and that they were not sold publicly.

This is unverified information but somewhat aligns with previous theories about its distribution to shareholders.
