Tips and Information when grading with CGC in Munich (Germany)

Hello everyone,

since I already did some submissions with CGC in Germany and came across some small challenges, I wanted to give you some tips when grading with CGC in Germany:

  1. What does Status “complete” mean: It means that your cards are graded and waiting to be shipped back - if you did not receive an E-Mail with your invoice 24 hours after the status change, give them a call and request the invoice, from time to time the automatic invoice creation does not work
  2. What if the shipping costs are missing on the Invoice? - Call them immediately and request a new invoice WITH the shipping costs - your submission will only be sent if the full invoice was paid
  3. When do I see the grades and the scans of my cards? - Only after the status change from “Completed” to “Shipped” - you will not see the scans or grades before
  4. Please make sure that your submission is put on the return queue after you paid your invoice - I usually give them a call 1 or 2 days after the payment was done just to be on the safe side - it only happened once to me but I want you to avoid this “dead time” when I got an E-Mail that my items will be sent back but due to a human error, the submission was not put on the return list
  5. Feel free to send me a message if you have some further questions etc. - return times are now at around 2.5 months from my experience but this can change in one direction or the other, thats only the situation middle of April 2026

Very helpful, thank you!

Have you noticed a difference in grading standards compared to CGC grading in the US?

Much stricter in my experience, especially on vintage.

Just went in contact with CGC support regarding a large order and this subthread pops up  Best timing!

How strict are we talking? Do you have a rough avg. grade comparison? And would you it’s worth to go the more complicated way to grade in the US or is the cost-/convenince-benift outweighing the significance of the grade boost?

In my view the standard is exactly the same compared to US and I graded 99% vintage with them
