Time zones.....

I like to think I’m pretty smart when it comes to time zones as I work in aviation and for the most part I always operate in two times, my local time and UTC/GMT. Today I have been stumped, and I’m hoping my West Coast American friends can help me out.

I tried to call PSA this morning (my time) in hopes of discussing them ignoring all my emails.

The time I called was 07:20AM GMT+8. When I looked at the time zone for Newport Beach, I read that the time was 16:20PM GMT-7. That calculation made sense to me, as those numbers align.

When I called though, I was greeted with an automated message informing me that the office was closed and that office hours are 07:00AM to 17:00PM Pacific Time.

I then cross checked to ensure that Pacific Time was daylight savings or not. Another search revealed that Pacific Time in Daylight Savings is GMT-7, where as standard time is GMT-8. Even using standard time, the time I called PSA would have been 15:20PM.

I can’t understand if I’ve either made a minor error in my calculations or PSA have simply shut the office early, either way I’m very confused and a little annoyed =/

Anyone from the West Coast able to enlighten me?

I’m in the same boat, only they promised compensation which they haven’t provided. =(

Update:

Figured out why my emails have been ignored completely, I’ve been talking with Michael Resendez about my cracked cases and incorrect labels for about 2.5 months.

After a quick chat to Rene at PSA tonight (my time) I found out Michael no longer works at PSA. This is very sad, as his customer service was generally fantastic! =(

Michael was a terrific employee but got an offer he couldn’t refuse. It’s actually quite nice you noticed and mentioned it here:)

I’ve had quite a few chats with him and he has never been anything other than well spoken and professional. This truly is a loss for PSA.

Rene was very helpful too last night. I’m hoping Veronica (apparently the Manager?) is able to quickly process my request though.

No!! Michael was always a great help whenever I spoke with him. If you know him Gary maybe you could pass along our appreciation?

I don’t have his contact info but can check with HR. If possible I’ll refer him to these posts:)
