Thoughts on Buying English Southern Islands Set Sealed vs. Graded

Hi! At it’s current price point ($2000+), is it worth it to buy an English Southern Islands set sealed, or is it better to buy graded versions of the cards. I heard that the English Southern Islands set was hard to grade (e.g. print lines across holos, etc.). Is it more likely for one to lose money buying the set sealed versus buying PSA 10 copies that already out in the market?

Any input regarding this would be much appreciated. Thanks so much!

It will be nearly impossible for you to get PSA 10s on some of the holos, even if they are package-fresh. You might as well purchase them already graded, and be willing to pay a steep price for that PSA 10 premium.

A full graded set, especially in PSA 10, would most likely sell for more than the sealed set. The Slowking and Mew cards alone can sell for a huge amount in high grades. They are very difficult to grade as well due to the large and fragile reverse holo surface.

Honestly unless you want a sealed set specifically, you could probably just buy a raw NM condition set and enjoy it like that and save a lot in the process compared to sealed or buying graded singles.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have a price point for JP singles off the top of their head?
