I was suggesting that it would be in PWCC’s and the sellers’ best interest to start the auctions on Monday where they left off. If they restarted everything from $0, there is a good chance that some items would end lower.
So no, it’s not some conspiracy big brain play, but it is in their financial interest to go with this method. I have no issues with it at all.
What I do have issue with is starting all auctions where they ended, even those fairly-won. For auctions that ended appropriately, it only serves to piss off the original bidder.
While I agree certain cards are probably easier to guess, I don’t know how they can differentiate what was “fairly won”. I watched multiple items just end abruptly before extended. Some at like 70% previous sales.
And yes this is the best option for the sellers. They are still the rightful owners, as they did not receive the offered service. It becomes obvious if for example the auctions ended at 5 days instead of 10. While it stings to see these sales reversed, they weren’t legitimate sales.
Yep. Called it. They never really give helpful information in the chat. So I guess now if I win the items again, what happens to my funds? I’m not giving them a double payment so hopefully they will credit it.
Like last February, the glitch occurred at a specific time. I am sure that PWCC knows exactly when it happened and could award cards that ended before the glitch as fairly won. But they have no incentive to do so.
Relisting all cards will either: 1) have them end at the same exact price, or 2) have them end for a higher price. Both outcomes benefit PWCC and the sellers.
Like I said, it is what it is. But I think we would be foolish to think that PWCC doesn’t know when the glitch occurred and which auctions ended appropriately before the glitch.
I think it was an issue with their bid clock. Also I am not defending how major of a fuck up this is, I rarely cuss but its necessary here as this is just inexcusable. I don’t even know how their clock can not clock. Like you have one job.
Two times in one year is pretty strange. Last time I believe that they blamed Amazon Warehouse Services (AWS), which makes sense. But if this problem keeps occurring, it will undermine the legitimacy of their auctioning platform. And that’s no good for buyers and sellers alike.
Cards ending 70% under last sold is just reflective of the way the market is now, especially for vintage. I’m not defending PWCCs screwup, but I just wanted to get that out that the ending price of some of your consignments is totally reflective of the current market.
I understand that there was a bug in this weeks auctions and it is not fair for sellers IF there were additional bids in the last extension.
But, the 2 cards I won this week had no additional bids in the last extension. My previous max bids are still there as well. If these items end up going higher because of PWCC extending the auctions because of their mistake, it feels wrong that I have to pay more for the items I know I rightfully won.
Its not that simple. The champion card I am referring to ended at $7800 last month. That price was mostly achieved in extended bidding. I am all for saying this is the current market value when an auction is run normally, but that didn’t happen. All of the top cards were supposed to go to extended bidding and didn’t. Also none of the cards were vintage in this case.
I predict a lot of impulse bids using this glitch as an excuse to not pay, although a lot of items might go over the ending price by allowing the bidding to continue I think a lot of sellers will suffer from this. Relisting items that have ended before the glitch is bullshit though, I understand that it might be the easiest thing to do technically but this will upset a lot of people.
The 2 biggest issues for me as a winner of an item in block 89 is:
Not getting any communication at all that this happened.
Not getting refunded the amount I paid. I should add it was a 4-figure card so it does tie up a good amount of funds.
Now the reasoning I can think of for why #2 happened was that if the extended card gets no bids, the original winner still wins so they don’t need to refund. But #1 exacerbates #2 in that it feels like they are wrongfully withholding your money. So now if I win at a higher price do I need to get double-charged to “win” the item? It’s a mess for sure.
