The only kind of people tricked by “low pop” are those that don’t have enough experience to distinguish for themselves.

Could be a bit of new cert premium but still a strong sale.

Yep. Every day I lose touch with everything. Might as well be 10k. I swear this card and many like it even graded 9’s were like $500-600 a year or 2 ago.

Yup. I purchased it for $400 in January of 2024. Odd what a difference a couple years can make. I’m just grateful I bought it when I did :grimacing:

Wut. I saw the PSA-10 Energy and the 350 sold price and thought: dang, 1st edition Base Set Energies are becoming pretty pricey as well these days. And only then I noticed it was an XY Evolutions one… Tf.

The market is crazy. A lot of semi modern and obscure stuff which IMHO doesn’t have the fundamentals or historical significance to be at this sort of level blows my mind.

No disrespect to these items but a few years ago I’d never have thought some of them would have reached 5 figures so quickly. On the flip side stuff which I had faith in such as PSA 9 WOTC, Ex and Lv X. has barely changed since 2020, and when selling I often get stung with that sort of stuff going for less than the PSA grading fee in auctions

I was definitely looking in the wrong place when buying virtually mint vintage a few years ago. On one hand you have that selling for low 2 figures and on the other random items for high 4 figures, not to mention the modern booster box prices reaching several multiples of MSRP within a few years

I’ve only been around since 2021 or so, but like, surely Munch and Costume Pikachus aren’t that surprising? I guess I wasn’t around when they were released and were going for ‘cheap’ so no price memory.

It’s hard to count print lines against Dragon Frontiers, potentially the worst print run in the entire history of the TCG.

If the card is otherwise perfect, then yeah, those can still be DF 10’s. Finding one of those ex without a line somewhere on it is nearly impossible, The plain holo makes it look so much worse as well.

I don’t know much about these items specifically but IMO 4/5 figures is absolutely insane for any “modern mass-produced” collectible. I feel like people have just become desensitised to how expensive some Pokemon stuff actually is, but at the same time some older/minter/rarer nostalgic stuff feels way undervalued in the same Pokemon market

In comparison some boomers entire lifelong collections of other stuff is often only worth a few hundred, and the idea of spending even $50 on a single Pokemon card is insanity to a normie outside of our space

not saying they can’t be 10s, just think they are really ugly and don’t match up with the price. personal opinion, at least one “whale” disagrees or doesn’t know what a print line is.

Oh, 100% they’re far and away the ugliest of the era, print line or not.

those old boomers stuff u prolly cant grade whereas in pokemans 99.5% of the value for set cards is in the “psa 10”

Funny how a couple of these cards showed up for sale on Instagram using the 4100 price as a reference, and undercutting it by a tiny bit
