Low feedback accounts are usually associated with nonsense shill bidding, but sometimes high feedback accounts try and hide it by setting their max bid higher than the previous sale while a low feedback account “sacrifices itself” to discover the max bid. The bid history of the Mudkip gold star auction I linked above is one such case.

i have no idea how people still bid without using a sniper after the year like 2006 
I don’t use sniper bids, but I add my bids within the last 5-10 seconds.
Sometimes I grossly miscalculate what the ending price will be, and I need some level of flexibility in the moment to decide if I’m pushing past my previous psychological bid cap. It’s also a great test to determine how badly I want the card.
I like snipes. Makes me set a limit and I can forget about it
