Still unrealized potential tho, limited sales data etc
These will be the chase cards of high end buyers.

90k I believe.
Still way too much imo but hey if you got the money and with a POP 10 card that only pops up every blue moon…

A T17 would be very interesting to see on pwcc:)

But if youve been in the hobby for some time now, it shouldnt suprise anyone considering how scarce are neo sets, even unlimited is crazy hard to find in Mint/psa 10 or even 9.
Neo sets are still very affordable given how difficult is to find (and the artwork is sublime but that’s subjective).

I assume you’re referring to the Dark Espeon that sold yesterday? I’m glad to see it finally sell publicly after a long drought.

A lot more than that

The two houndooms, smeargle, umbreon etc. are all pulling impressive prices

Hmm, they don’t seem that impressive to me, I sold the Smeargle for $8400 nearly 6 months ago & yamna only got $11k recently. I remember when it sold for $15k & that was thought to be a steal. I guess Houndoom & Umbreon are growing decently.

I got my eye on espeon love that card!! seems fairly hard to grade in a 10 dno if to pull the trigger now just incase it climbs

Last night was your best bet to get one for “cheap”. I know of a couple private sales that were well over that $6800 amount.

That houndoom was a holo bleed 1st ed. One of the most beautiful cards i have ever seen. I have never outright purchased a psa card over 1k but i was damn close to hitting BiN on 20k myself. Hope it ended up with @gemmintpokemon

wow i never knew neos were so high six months ago, guess there was just no public sales

I’m referring to the Dark Espeon from Neo Destiny

ahhh ok yeh sorry i meant espeon from neo discovery, i saw that dark espeon auction last night! almost bidded on it kinda bummed i didnt… i actually prefer the artwork compared to the neo discovery espeon but for now i think its out of my price range as im sure by the time the next dark espeon comes up for auction it will go higher than the 6.8k it went for last night :slightly_frowning_face: might still add it to my buy list worth a punt at that winning price I guess!

I wish. I snagged the unlimited Ho-oh recently.

The top, back-right corner nick is throwing me off. PSA has been grading very tough lately. I’m surprised that got through. There’s a reason the top grade is 9s for most.

I tried looking through sold/completed listings & couldn’t pair it up with anything.

Many of these ultra niche cards are starting to be priced more closely with their availability.

Someone on Graded Gem brought up how comparable the Lugia and Shining Gyarados are. They are about equally iconic with amazing artwork. They follow similar psa 9 pop reports around 360, and the Shining Gyarados PSA 10 pop is fairly low around 100, while the Lugia is pop 42. I view the Shining Gyarados as the closest card in Neo that can be compared to the Lugia. Yeah, the T17 is comparable, but mainly because it has a ridiculously low pop. I don’t own either in a 10, but I feel that the Shining Gyarados in a 10 will creep to about 25K and surpass Shining Charizard in the next 3 years.

The pull rate on Gyarados is roughly twice as high in a single Neo Rev box vs Shining Charizard in a single Neo Destiny box and the latter box is also more expensive. Gyarados also lacks the special holo pattern of Charizard and is not particularly low-pop in the grand scheme of WOTC holos. I think it’s a beautiful card but I would be shocked to see it surpass Charizard on a regular basis barring an anomaly sale.

I don’t know a single person who genuinly likes the Zard more than the Gyarados, though. Shining Zard isn’t a particularily nice or memorable artwork for its species, whereas the red Gary is one of the most iconic WOTC era cards. Zard will always be Zard, obviously. I wouldn’t be too suprised to see Gyarados become equally or more valuable than the Zard long-term, though.

Gyarados(especially red gyarados) is iconic enough as a pokemon that I think that even though its pop/pull rate is kinda highish, it’ll still rise fairly evenly with the Zard because of how much more it’s favored. Then again, Zard tax is a very real thing

I do see that 23 PSA 10 1st Ed Shining Charizards were graded in the past 52 weeks (219 total) vs 5 PSA 10 1st Ed. Shining Gyarados (100 total). If in 5 years if we’re looking at 125 Gyarados PSA 10 vs 300 Charizard PSA 10 I could see it. But if the Charizard pop plateaus or Gyarados rises quicker than it is now I cannot.
