The mystery of Jamboree *Revived*

Anyone that has done any research into the details surrounding WOTC losing the license to print the Pokemon TCG, knows that there was a set called Jamboree planned to be released.

bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Jamboree_(TCG)

What I didn’t know was that products, and at the least promotional material was printed for this set.
Bulbapedia claims that Nintendo blocked the release of any of this material, and obviously it never got publicly released.

Has there ever been scuttlebutt or inklings that old WOTC employees may have these test materials/products stashed/stored somewhere?

I love a mystery.

Thread revived by @martincollects so I have merged the 2 topics.

Was there a reason they lost the licence other than the standard contract process of lowest bidder?

Well I don’t think the contract loss was due to a lowest bidder type deal, I just think that Nintendo wanted to take over the printing process themselves and kind of did out out of the blue.

I don’t know if that is 100% correct, I am sure there are some others here who have facts.

I recall back in the day on the 'gym that there was someone claiming to know a WOTC employee who had a storage locker full… I wish they would’ve still released it

We have never seen any materials released for this set formally nor informally.

But damn would I love for that to change.

you’d think something would have surfaced by now?

Well, given the awkwardness of it all and the complete lack of information on our part, it could be a hundred reasons. Perhaps there would have been legal damages in the event something got out. Or perhaps the impression was that they weren’t as worthy of saving because of the franchise’s slowing pace. Or maybe they just didn’t get around to really producing much. Heck, it’s possible, even, that the teams who were really good about not letting things slip out were the only teams that received anything for the set.

There is just so much that we do not know about this set and the circumstances didn’t really lend themselves to documentation either.

But I can’t reiterate enough how much I would love for all this to change.

The way it is worded in the bulbapedia article makes it seem like Nintendo almost raided the WOTC factory and confiscated anything related to the set. Obviously that is probably over dramatic, but the wording suggests some level of hostility.

I’d love anything, booster pack designs, promotional poster. It’d be huge news no matter how small.

I believe scans exist somewhere of it and as I recall when Nintendo took over employers left with everything including the scans to this set.

You might be thinking of the April Fool’s day prank a while back, but there aren’t actual scans.

That’s what you think :stuck_out_tongue:

I would love for this to be real. Out there somewhere… Ugh *takes off anti hacking gloves. I’ll find them

Hello!
I have been trying to make some research about the unreleased WOTC “Jamboree” set.
There doesn’t seem to be much information to find, and I know @milhouse made a thread about it a couple of years ago:
[deleted]

Instead of reviving the old thread I decided to make a new one, since many more people have joined the community during the past year.
Does anyone have more information about the set or might be able to get in contact with someone who can shed some light on this mystery?

Wow, thanks for bringing this up. First time ive come across it, gotta love this community

I think the big discovery to be possibly made here is potential prototype/test material or promotional material.
That’d be HUGE.

I love talking about these unreleased sets and what they could have been, just an idea maybe make this thread about all the unreleased sets? Not trying to hijack but there is just a bunch of hidden stuff!

On bulbapedia, in the jamboree section they list the set art was produced, and released for testing.

However in the Usertalk section, a specific user asked the owner of that statement if it was actually released and the person replied it was just something they heard and never confirmed. If there was art released, I believe we would have seen something as of now, we have seen a great deal of test packets over the years, very intriguing this set is so unknown.

This may seem a little off topic but for I am guessing the majority of the people on here, it may have never been brought up to them:

There was 3 unreleased sets:
Legendary Collection 2: Combination of old stuff plus vending series
Crosstrainer- Combination of Jamboree and LC2
Jamboree- US artists

They actually released a set list for LC2 back in the day, was suppose to be 150 cards I believe.

Can you post the set list? I was not aware of that piece of information.

I have no proof of the accuracy of this, it looks legit, was found in a forum off pokegym back around 2010, a certain user said they “found it”. This would be a painstaking amount of work for someone to just make it all up IMO.
