It’s such an amazing card, great history no matter where else you might get that artwork, and - for me at least - some of these cards you will never own with a budget if you are picky. I can afford to be picky for set cards which I am especially on centering but this is a different class all together.
Congrats again!
The key point is ‘The term "trophy card” is used in the Pokemon collecting world to describe cards awarded as placement prizes (not participation prizes) in major competitions.’ By this definition, Championship Arena is not a trophy card because it was not a placement prize.
That said, you’re right in that it is an ambiguous term, but I feel like that’s because people want to apply it to cards where it really is a stretch. Maybe it’s more a vibe thing. I think most people would class Master’s Scroll as a trophy, but would not class the English Victory Cups as trophies.
*I’ll also add that I don’t think it really matters.
This is a good usecase for how ambigious the term is. English Victory Cups are arguably Mini Trophies. You explicitly had to place 1st, 2nd or 3rd place to receive, even if the Battle Roads in USA were very small tournaments. The cards literally have a 1st Place / 2nd Place / 3rd Place stamp on them. Meanwhile, while the Master’s Scroll is much rarer and was far harder to obtain, you did not explicitly need to win any tournament to rack up enough participation points.
I dont think so, with this seller having 0 feedback it is really hard believing it is real. But I really do want to believe haha
And yes of course, that does not immediately tell you it is a scam. I would not risk it, but I also do not have the money. So take that with a grain of salt
This is a scam listing. See in the description it says “Umbreon/Espeon Play OR Leafeon VMAX”
You will see these every now and then, they are “lucky bags” where you supposedly have a chance at “winning” big cards. The seller will usually put up the same number of listings as they have “lucky bags” and say that they will randomly send you one of the bags if you win the auction.
Spoiler alert, they never have the big cards and you will always be scammed.
I see a couple of them every day when I search. As long as you’re aware of the signs (very desirable cards with limited pictures listed by low feedback sellers) and the usual description (olipa, oripa, high accuracy in title, randomly enclosed) you can spot them pretty easily.
Always need to be very careful buying on Yahoo as especially new/inexperienced people can get scammed easily by something like this.
