Looks like the seller didn’t get the initial $12k BIN they were looking for, dropped this to $11k BIN after a week and still ‘only’ sold for $9.1k after about ~6 weeks of being listed.
There was also another 2x cert SL7 Lugia that auctioned for $9.1k a couple weeks ago (also on Z&G, I think) so i’m guessing the seller was quite motivated to move this and just matched that price.

with how many cards are at the 5-10k mark now or even more 9k for that seems dirt cheap whats that up like barely 10% from the last sale

Lol you’re absolutely right, that said if there was going to be a card I was going to balk at for selling in the near-5-figures it wouldn’t be this one in particular, lol.
This one ticks too many boxes:
- Low pop card from an extremely low printed set
- Lugia
- Shiny (it’s either this CoL SL or the Shining Legends one as the only shiny cards for Lugia)
- Art is great, although not ‘incredible’ or ‘amazing’ it looks fantastic in person
- SLs are iconic/distinct enough as a subset at this point with their silver holo borders and relative scarcity
I’ve always loved this card so i’m definitely biased but overall i’m happy when I see any card from this shiny subset doing well/getting exposure.

call of legends is just so undervalued in general cant imagine what a sealed box would go for now if there even any around maybe more than all the holos in psa 10 combined i am pretty shocked it never got the pump this go around but maybe there are no psa 10 or boxes around so there is nothing to pump

Jokes aside (is this really a joke anymore though?), something needs to be said about how Z&G’s auctions are almost single-handedly perpetuating this bubble. Why do so many cards 2x or 3x from week to week (vintage and modern), but only through his auctions?
The minute a card hits a record price in his auctions, the sale is reported on IG and it’s unanimously accepted as the new floor price for a card. Doesn’t matter that the card is now 10x higher than the previous day, people will accept it. I don’t think there was a single consignment service or auction house that had this much power during the covid or waifu bubbles, and now we’re seeing this.

I can’t imagine this card’s price being sustainable. Ancient Origins had very good quality control and many are being added to the pop report, currently at 600 (with many more on the way I’d imagine). 2500-3000 feels about right but 4k is egregious.
This was a probstein auction too which tend to get suspiciously higher prices than normal.

Was about to post this one… Of course, it’s been chilled. Several copies are available for around $6k, and the bidder has no sales or purchase history on eBay… so sad
