The Buy Section Rules Have Changed

Exactly this.

i’m pretty sure dblast had 200 posts within the same hour. 50 is nothing.

I don’t have 50 posts…crap…time to start replying to threads…

Ahhahahahaahahaha this is funny because of your post count

It’s what I’ve been doing

Solid

Appreciate all of the changes! Thanks for working so hard on this.

It’s also nice to see that a lot of members share the same frustration with the amount of price ridiculing and market battles that occur in these threads. I am glad to know of the reporting system for post derailment and I will be using that going forward. Maybe we would also benefit from having an additional suggestion on the list to respect offers and privately discuss any financial advice or “I would pay” comments to avoid clutter and belittling. If a post offer is too low below market the buyer will adjust accordingly when bumping.
Lack of offers can be just as much of an incentive and alert for price adjustments. Again great changes, glad we had this addressed

We should have a feed back section, were we report how the trade/sale went

Quick question about the rules (haven’t seen this answered anywhere): are you allowed to mention in your buy thread that you also have trades? In addition to offer prices, of course. Like if I wanted to say “In addition to PayPal, I also have various X that I’d be open to trading toward my wants.” Is this allowed or does this breach the ‘no trade threads’ rule?

Yes, this breaches the rules. We eliminated trades as trades are largely unsuccessful, people often want to trade up but nobody wants to trade down. Furthermore, trade threads were used as ways to tactically post inventory that was for sale. I’m sure you can see that if we allowed what you suggest, even if a good percentage of members used it in good faith, there is a significant potential for abuse.

@effectspore, we’ve considered that several times before, I actually suggested it back when I first joined! We do not have a feedback section for several reasons. First, a user’s presence on the forum indicates that they have had no transaction issues reported to the staff. Any members engaging in shady activity are banned. Second, feedback on E4 is redundant as many other actual marketplaces have a much better feedback system, which can simply be linked to from E4. Third, we do not want E4 to be a marketplace. We have removed nearly all marketplace activity except buying. Adding a feedback section would needlessly promote a part of E4 which we have actively sought to diminish in order to increase forum quality.

If you are unsure of the reputation of a person you are dealing with on the forum, you can always message a moderator. However, this is no replacement for proper buyer protection on all purchases.

Can I delete my threads myself once the sale is done and then create another one?

You can’t delete threads at all, only your introduction top post. All the comments from other members (and yourself), aswell as the tread title, will still remain. + No one knows what everything was all about, because the needed context for all the comments is gone. Kinda messy, annoying, and completely uneffective.

So just write a comment like “sale completed, can be closed” and a mod will come and close the thread for you
Afterwards you can create a new one - or you edit your old one to fit your new wants.

Perhaps the minimum post count should be revisited. 500 is probably a good start
