It’s incredibly confusing what is and isn’t allowed.

Context clues help:
He’s saying that 1 sector of american business has caused a drop, and he didn’t even put into account what would happen if canada retaliates.
It isn’t political to say that, its economics. This is political:

We will not publicly argue about moderation. As noted, this thread is focused on the consequences of tariffs. We aren’t being super heavy-handed but if people want to nitpick everything we’ll just close down the thread and you can argue on reddit.
Nah, it’s simple: you don’t say what you think about the tariffs, you just discuss the consequences and how to handle them.
I believe we do have this, but the issue isn’t on the return end with import taxes to Canada, it’s with PSA. PSA won’t accept submissions because they may have to pay a 25% import tariff on the declared value of all submissions from Canada/Mexico/China. That’s why they’ve suspended acceptance.
maybe tariffs arent all bad…
Wow, frustrating. I really didn’t expect the tariffs to impact submitting to PSA. Crazy times.
I think it’s just PSA playing it safe.
They had a cap on the valuation already per box of 2k or something.
They may just make it $800 now.
But they shouldnt have to pay anything anyway if it’s declared as a temp export.
Likely they are trying to figure it out too.
This is the big issue with haphazard things like this, businesses do not have time to adapt.
The de minimis exemption is still set to end, so an $800 limit won’t help.
Both amendments say duty-free de minimis treatment is available until “adequate systems are in place” for efficient tariff revenue processing and collection from imports eligible for the exemption currently. Once the Commerce Secretary notifies the president that the requirements have been met, the de minimis exemption will cease for Canada and Mexico products.
It should should work if properly declared as a temporary export. I say “should” but ofc it’s never clear cut.
Man I hope CGC doesn’t stop accepting submissions now too - worst case just gonna have to collect raw cards until the tariffs stop
Heya, sorry to ask but I tried scrolling up and just kept running into ehhh not pokemon related talk so was wondering if anyone could just give me an answer -
If I buy a card from Canada or Mexico will I have to do anything extra?
And
Are the Chinese tariffs paused or do we know if they are coming back? And if so, would they affect buying singles from China?
Sorry if this is all answered but for some reason while scrolling on my phone it jumps around and then I get stuck on politics talk and I just want to know if my sparkly cardboard will get here okay
Thats the thing, nobody knows how this works yet
Dang, thank you!
I don’t think you will ever have to do anything different. It’s up to the vendors to pay tariffs.
Now, might you buy something that some tariff was owed on and the seller didn’t pay it, thus it ends up not getting through customs? That could happen maybe.
The importer pays the tariffs
I only asked because I saw a picture of someone who ordered something from Temu when that first China tariff went into effect for 24 hours or w/e, and they got a slip informing them they needed to go down to the store and pay $130 to pick up their item. This was through UPS or FedEx I think though?
So that’s what made me nervous
That is exactly what will happen. You, the importer, will pay the increased cost.
Email I just got from from ebay, they mention the $800 threshold:
Read our recommendations for sellers shipping to the US
Today, March 4th, 2025, the United States government implemented a 25% additional tariff on all goods produced in Canada and Mexico, effective immediately. For now, the de minimis threshold on US imports remains in place. This means new tariffs will be applied to goods produced in Canada or Mexico that are sold to buyers in the United States, valued at US$800 or more, regardless of item condition.
eBay’s priority is to provide sellers with accurate and timely information to help them understand the impact of the new US Executive Orders and how to comply with new requirements. Therefore, to ensure a smooth cross-border shipping experience we strongly recommend sellers take the following actions:
- Ensure the item location for your listings is accurate.
- Include accurate Harmonized Tariff Codes & Country of Manufacture (COO) information on your customs declarations.
Be assured that eBay is actively monitoring for any delays in cross-border shipping and/or changes to formal customs clearance processes. In the event of customs delays, eBay will take steps to automatically remove defects and adjust your late shipment rate when valid tracking information indicates that these problems were caused by systemic shipping delays. Learn more about our defect removal guidelines.
If you receive feedback from buyers related to customs delays or fees, and the item location for your listing is accurate, we will take care of it for you. For more details, check out our feedback policy page.
You can continue monitoring the eBay Community for more information and updates as they arrive.
As always, thank you for being part of the seller community.
Basically all cards currently priced between $700-$900 will now be priced at $799. No reason to price anything just above $800, you lose so many potential buyers.
