I really liked Mugi Hamada’s Bulbasaur. Great to see they are now a TCG illustrator!
Also, the varied styles in Mask of Change through all the main set cards, this really is the golden era for art.
I demand compensation for the clear plagarism that is Chimecho based off my E4 Artist Trophy drawing. The drawing, the pose. The offense!

That heatran by akira egawa is absolutely phenomenal! Some other super good looking cards tii like phantump by katsunori sato, jynx by gapao, aipom by mugi hamada (really looking forward to their future work based on the first card) and of course venipede by tomokazu komiya, we live a golden era of bulk cards

I love everything about this card.
Kieran, imo, was a well-written character in the games.
Teeziro was able to amplify the busyness of the Festival of Masks that the games couldn’t show.
That smile on Kieran’s face just warms my heart.
I have my new chase card; I was going to take a break until July , but I’ll start that in May

Gorgeous card but I cant be the only one put off by the face not matching the style and detail of the rest of the card. Their other card, parasol lady, also had the character not quite match the other elements on the card.

Might be a limit of relatively basic character designs in Pokémon. Her original work has much finer details for faces

can’t say i agree. the light source is behind the character. you wouldn’t be able to see much detail of anyone’s face in this sort of angle.
plus, it’s not a scan. there are likely a lot of other details we’re missing from this picture. the SAR glitter, similar to the HR glitter, often distorts the artwork.

But im speaking of the art style of the face compared to the art style of the hands or the food. You can see major differences in shading when it comes to the apple or the had when compared to how 2D and flat the face looks. Everything looks shiny and has an aura to it. Very detailed coloring on the food but her face is mostly one tone. It could be the angle or the character but it strikes me as odd to not match.
again, i’m just not sure i can agree.
you could end up correct, but from what i can tell so far, it seems to all fit within the same framework of detail

Where you can see more gradiant on the highlights of her hair and a softness of light going with the curves.
Or how you can see how much more depth is portrayed around her hand.
It absolutely can be the photo or the subject itself, just dont think its an immediate homerun for me.

i definitely see what you’re talking about. i’m just holding judgement bc there may be more subtle/low dynamic details that aren’t being captured.
ultimately, i’m not here to say you’re wrong for feeling how you do. it is just my opinion that it is not a contradiction in detail, but moreso just a stylistic choice
