Sugimori Charizard single or double horn?

I’ve always wondered whether or not this particular Sugimori Charizard art is the single or double horn version? Knowing that some of the early Charizard art was that of the single horn variant, are there any Pokemon historians out there who can confirm this with any evidence?

I love this artwork, and i think it is undoubtedly one of the most iconic artworks of Pokemon.
Could it become even more so with the knowledge that it is actually that of Charizard’s maiden design?

I would guess that the 2nd horn is hidden since the visible horn seems off to the side.

At least it has wings…

In blue version, Charizard clearly has 2 horns, so I’m guessing 2 given the cards came after the games.

I think it’s single horned then later changed.

Alot of the early art shows a single horn.

base set box art uses one horn though
