This might be an unpopular opinion but it sounds like you took advantage of an older man who didn’t know the value of what he had. I better get my mum to value her possessions before something like this happens to her lol.
Sounds like the seller was happy with the dollar amount, so there is zero issue here. Why overpay for something you don’t need to? Your argument just sounds like jealousy.
I agree and disagree to some extent. Yes you wanna grab a bargain but in your mind you would know what it’s roughly worth, me personally I’d want good karma and pay a decent amount
Insane find man!!! Im looking for certain spanish holos in possible gem grade (Magneton; Machamp; Chansey…) Let me know if you’re selling ungraded spanish cards.
Look I don’t know the full situation so it’s all speculation (just like you speculating on me but I hope the deal wasn’t disproportionately in favour of the buyer considering it was an older person who didn’t know the value of what he had.
Edit: and why overpay for something you don’t need to? Is an egotistical way of looking at things. Guess that’s the logic cash converters use when they buy jewellery from desperate people at the fraction of its worth.
If both people are happy, there is no problem imo. They came to a deal and that was that, nothing to be concerned about someone taking advantage of someone. He probably made a bunch on what he paid, and OP got a fantastic collection. Win-Win.
I agree. To be honest, if this would have happened to me and it was sealed product of which I had competent knowledge on its price, I would have attempted to make a reasonable offer to the “old man”. However, if he took me to his storage unit and opened it up to what OP found, I would have no idea what to price it at (for the most part). One thing is for sure though, I wouldn’t wait around to check the prices on every single item…
To address this, I totally understand why you would think this. That being said, I paid more than twice what he was anticipating I was going to offer. I could not have offered more than I did while trying to be financially responsible. He personally collected all the stuff, it’s not like he had no idea what he had. He was happy to find a buyer that had cash in hand, take it all at once, and one that was willing to do the physical work to unpack and haul off all the stuff.
In the end we are both happy with the deal and I hope that makes sense.
Please don’t let peoples jealousy get to you. For some people it’s very difficult to feel joy for others fortune, and only have the capacity to feel joy for their own. If the seller was happy with the sale then that’s all their is to it.
