Spanish cards were printed (or at least distributed) by Panini from Diamond & Pearl to Platinum

Just thought the distribution was very interesting and makes these very hard to come by

Panini was the distributor of Pokémon TCG in Spain during Gen IV. That was after Devir stopped distributing TCG.

Some points to highlight:

  • Most Spanish expansions from this era lacked Reverse Holo variants
  • :sparkles: PokĂ©mon from Platinum era received a Cosmos Holofoil effect (exclusively for Spanish variants)
  • Boosters still contain 5 cards (same situation as EX era Spanish expansions: Ruby & Sapphire & Unseen Forces)

It seems that during this era there’re no Spanish “Theme Decks” that are totally different from English, unlike EX era with Libro Ilustrados.

I’m not sure if Panini distributed HGSS Base Set expansion … Spanish started being a “frequent language” since BW era. Before it appeared once in a blue moon …

Btw, I remember that once I found a Panini Pokémon link in Wayback Machine … However, at the moment I’m writing this, Wayback Machine is down for unknown reasons (I hope it returns to normality soon)

If I manage to find when Wayback Machine returns, I’ll share it here …

Sounds great. i forgot to mention that on the wiki page for stormfront and platinum. It states that the 2 sets lacked reverses i was unsure about other sets. do you have any examples besides the 3 stromfront secret rare shinies, and the platinum shinies? Also that would be intersting to see hopefully the wayback machine returns to normal

The sets that lacked RH variants in Spanish/Portuguese are:

  • DP Base Set
  • Mysterious Tresaures
  • Secret Wonders
  • Great Encounters (Unreleased in Portuguese)
  • Legends Awakened (Unreleased in Portuguese)
  • Stormfront (Unreleased in Portuguese)
  • Platinum Base Set (Unreleased in Portuguese)

I mention Portuguese as well because during EX era and DP-Plat era, they always treated them as their own group.

The Shinies are Cosmos Holofoil in Spanish. They can spawn from boosters.
Eskizo has a video where he pulled one from a booster.

The other cards don’t have Reverse Holo effect (or Cosmos Holo effect)

The last expansion they’ve released seems to be Platinum Base Set.
It seems they had Adobe Flash applications inside … I’ll try to search the way to extract those applications
Btw, this is a very interesting topic … I’ll note it in my “list of things to write about”

Update: HGSS was distributed in Spanish by TPCi. Last expansion distributed by Panini was Platinum Base Set
