Sites other than eBay to sell?

All I do is take my desired sale price, divide by 0.883, then tack on S&H into the price.

If you are dealing with items you enjoy owning, there is no disappointment when it does not sell.

Very true.

I’m of the opinion that eBay fees are actually an incredible bargain for everything the merchant receives in return.

Gumtree / kajiji / craigslist / yahoo auctions (throughout the world, different countries OTHER THAN Japan.) / amazon lol / pokemon card collector forums / tao bao

There are also those foreign buying sites like noppin, and there is some dutch auctions sites also, I just remember someone posting a link here in the auction thread; cant remember the dutch sites name.

but… with all this knowledge and scouring all these sites… I can’t say I have ever found better deals, that what will pop up on ebay.

I DO HOWEVER! truly miss the sales thread here… Please bring it back… it was ruined for all the good users / sellers here, and I’m going to make a voting thread to try and bring it back here soon…

I am sorry that you miss that portion, but discussion has been had and evaluations on the success of the removal have been made and we are happy with the change.
Discussion about collecting and cards has increased and the general attitude of the forum has shifted to something more pleasant.

The buying portion is still perfectly alive and good to go. Anyone can ask about what they really want. That helps improve people’s buying habits.
There are plenty of other sites to sell on, including eBay where almost every member here regularly surfs for cards.
A voting thread is irrelevant. There are very few things we (administration) put our foot down about here. Legitimately, we are more relaxed than the staff on any other forum regarding how people conduct themselves, what they talk about and say, how they do it, etc. But this is one thing that we feel strongly about.

Selling section going hasn’t really made a difference, you can still sell through upccc privately. I have done a few deals just through seeing peoples wants on the buy/trade thread.

I have no doubt the selling section was kind to some people, but especially as the site grows I am sure it would have attracted some less than reputable characters.

@milhouse I agree that sales will still happen they just aren’t prioritized/pushed. I’ve made a few deals (both buying & Selling) since the policy change. Rather than crowd the new topics with sales threads we get more new content. People who have wants will find people here who have cards so sales are even less needed.

About the less reputable I am sure it would bring some of those peoples. But as any site/group grows it will encounter more and more troublesome people. Scammers, liars regular conflicting personalities and ideals.

Besides that I think we’ve all concluded that there are other options out there but ebay gives the best exposure for your money. It can lead to private deals and access to more cards. Other sites, forums or sales mediums are risky and the cheaper prices on items will reflect that.

We’re too hard on eBay.

If you paid for a domain, you’d have to do a lot in sales to eclipse that percentage.
Paypal fees are entirely reasonable relative to credit card fees.

And brick and mortar stores cost a TON more than 10%.

eBay traffic is incredible. And the view traffic is free.
Plus, sales go for more, since everyone expects to get a cheaper price when there aren’t fees. That attitude builds the cost of fees into selling on eBay anyway.

i do wish that ebay would take the fees directly out of the total purchase price, other than waiting till the end of the month to send the bill.

I desperately wish I could opt into such a system.
That annoys the tar out of me.

So then PayPal would have to deduct the ebay fees apon payment. Interesting!
I’d prefer leaving it the same so I could hold the money longer but I understand that’s less important for casual users.

The interest I draw on it is so incredibly minimal that it’d be more convenient to not have another bill to account for as I track my finances.

It’s not the loss of interest that’s the priority. It’s the loss of cash on hand. Sometimes you need that extra cash to complete a larger deal, and that could be a major loss.

If I don’t have the money to complete the deal without my eBay fee charges, I don’t have the money for the purchase. So the way I do finances makes that irrelevant.
The immediate withdrawal could be an opt-in system offered as a courtesy quite easily that pays off for them in increased interest drawn. So as an opt-in system, it would be a huge win-win because people in both worlds, like yours and mine, would be better off, as would the company.

I’m not really worried about selling the SR M-Charizard X Ex in PSA 10. Out of all of them that I’ve listed that’s the one that I want to keep, lol. It’s the other 20 cards that I want to Upgrade conditions on…
