I love how sweet your art is, your wife is very lucky
@BANKS I definitely will eventually. The percentage of people getting publishing deals is very low, so ultimately, I think that will be my path. But I think its worth it to at least have one year where I go all in and send it to publishers (via agents). To give it a try at least. Then I’ll have known i tried the traditional path. But absolutely, self publishing is plan b
Really? Black belt at 12 is super impressive
Thanks! I finished my 2nd degree at 14 and had to stop at 15 (health reasons). I don’t exactly miss fighting, but the training was top notch
I feel this, had to quit judo for my knee
One of my most valuable collections is made of pixels! I’ve played the same game on and off for over 20 years, and, after amassing enough game currency to pay for a decade of membership without real money, I started collecting nostalgic and ultra rare items as a new end game goal.
I barely play this game now, but it’s fun to look back every once in a while
Update:
Just got my first look at the track and only had about 30 mins of testing before a storm rolled in which isn’t ideal . The layout is really difficult and the competition is…fast
Here’s a quick little clip of a portion of a test run if anyone is interested. The quad is GNARLY. For context, my car is about 2ft long.
That RC car gets a lot of air! Thanks for sharing—looks fun
I was surprised at your car’s hang time, looks like a fun hobby
It’s one of those hobbies that flies under the radar but most people who try it become addicted (kind of like Pokemon cards ). The classes are split out by car type and skill level so it can be as casual or as competitive as you want it to be but it’s always fun.
I like the competitive side of the spectrum but it does require a significant amount of work. It’s kind of like you’re competing with yourself, the track and your peers all at the same time. Races can get intense to say the least lol.
If you’re interested in seeing what the actual race looks like here’s one from last year at my local track. The race starts at about 1:20
Fun stuff, i had a friend who worked for a hobby company about 15 years ago that was deep into supplying for these type of rc cars. Suprised me how much money people put into them at the time but like any hobby, there are some nice casual novice levels with some crazy intense pro levels.
Ohhh man… you have no idea. If you want to be competitive, the up front cost is expensive regardless, but some people (a lot of people) go nuts. It’s not uncommon to see an average Joe weekend warrior have $1,000+ in different tire compounds on hand at all times just in case the track conditions change.
I don’t judge how people spend their money but a lot of people are delusional and think they can spend their way to becoming a faster driver. After a certain point, the law of diminishing returns kicks in and you can’t substitute practice/work/effort with money anymore.
