Hi everyone, I am getting ready to send in my very first grading submission I got a few cards I feel confident about but I have a few I am on the fence about, so I was hoping this awesome and helpful community could help me out some more! I posted the Gengar before but the rest ive never posted or asked opinions on. Wasn’t sure if this should go in general or questions sorry! please move if the post if you have to.
If you could kindly help me out and give me an idea of what these cards might get graded that would be great also if you could explain why that helps me understand grading a lot better too, and if you need more angles or pictures just let me know.
All the cards I plan on selling right away (except arcanine ex) as I already have a gym binder set and thats more than enough for me. I am trying to determine if there are any that I should sell as raw cards instead.
A few of these cards have very little to no scratching and any scratches I show off are like one or two hairlines only seen from that direct light path in that picture I tried to show multiple angles to demonstrate this some are better than others.
Honestly just send them all in… at a glance they all look 8+ and you should be able to get your money back with those grades. No reason to not grade these if you want to sell them. These all look better than being listed as raw nm.
It’s only 6 cards, send them all in! If you have more cards you like, make it an even 10 or a bakers dozen. That’s how you start your graded collection and build knowledge about grading standards.
Personally, I might not send in the Brock, Lt. Surge, and Misty. Because of the holo scratches (and light edge wear, in the case of Brock), I don’t think any of them will get 9s. But they do all look like solid 8s. Tough to comment on the Arcanine ex, though, unless more clear photos are provided – if you turn on the flash on your camera and take a few angled shots with the flash directed at the card, people could give you better feedback on it. From what I can see, it looks like a solid 8. Overall, all of these are beautiful cards, and I don’t think it’s a bad decision (financially) to send any or all of them to PSA.
Sounds good thank you that was kind of my first assessment was 8+ I just wanted to get an extra set of eyes on it. Thank you for helping.
Oh yeah I got more I am sending in too a couple of ones I hold near and dear that ill be sending in regardless, I got about 15 being sent cards I think im gonna do the 249.99 club membership with the 15 vouchers.
No doubt 100% this is true, lol I will be sending it to PSA before the weekend.
Okay!
I might consider that, I really don’t know how comfortable I am doing an online sale outside of eBay though but ill definitely think about It and keep you in mind.
Thank you for your comments on that. Yeah the one that worries me the most is definitely surge, I can’t see him breaking an 8 since when held in light his does show a longer scratch most likely so ill have to weigh if I am going to send that. The misty is tough because outside of those hairlines which can only be seen at an angle the card is so clean maybe a tiny spec of white (the corner may look like wear but its just a glare) . Brock is also very clean no holo scratches at all but there is little bit of white that will hold the card back from getting a 10 and probably even a 9.
However like you said I might just send them all since it makes sense financially. Thanks again so much for helping me out.
I tend to grade all 1st edition cards, cards that will gain more value if they’re graded or cards I want to keep till I die. If you like the cards I don’t see why you shouldn’t grade them all. It’s great for preserving the cards, it makes selling them A LOT easier, since selling raw cards are hell plus miss out on the naughty PSA premium. Also if you hit X amount of cards it’s usually cheaper per card (when using a middleman at least).
