Selling on Ebay is now a HELL

Yeah, someone says ex+ I’m thinking psa 6-7, not 5. @ill3will, always put back pictures

I’ve always gone with the PSA standards, EX/MT is roughly a PSA6. So I know how that could lead to confusion. Because from EX-MT it jumps straight to Near Mint, which basically starts the whole accolade on whether the card is in that condition or not, and matterof opinion kicks in and it becomes a headache lol.

But yeah, if that were the case, then I’m definitely on the PSA7 scale. Anything below that would be perfect for binders.

Why don’t you just include a picture of the back? Those sellers are so rude sometimes when you ask for a picture of the back. Instead of getting upset, just add it to the listing.

There are certain people on this forum who respond with “It’s graded PSA 10, I’m not showing you the back” then block you LMAO

i sell many low priced raw cards (i state them usually as “fresh from pack” as I don’t like to get into stating them as mint or NM to avoid more issues), many times i don’t bother uploading a photo of the back because it is a cheap card. usually don’t have issues, but there are always a few boneheads that would assume that if i don’t state specific damages/conditions in the description and show no pictures of the back, the card must be gem mint. of course, these people would say the listing was very “confusing” and “missing important info” AFTER they receive the order. i accept returns on these and block the buyers.

in regards to shipping, anything over a few hundred dollars or INTERNATIONAL, i ship now with Fedex. the rates are comparable and FedEx will deliver the package in 2-3 days, guaranteed as stated. USPS was taking 2-3 weeks to deliver a priority package on many of my items. Fedex tracking on international packages are superior to USPS by a long stretch. I’d imagine UPS & DHL would be similar as well, although I just default to Fedex.

yeah, for graded cards and cards of high value, photo of the back is helpful to the seller for sure.

Started selling some stuff this month, 20 offers accepted, 10 never paid/asked to cancel.

When you say that business has been rising, do you refer the overall growth of the market or do you think it’s a consequence of adding pictures of the back of the cards? I firmly believe that not showing the back of raw cards would cut my sales considerably. Personally I would never buy a raw card without seeing the back first: I always skip those listings and especially for low value cards I feel it’s too much of a hassle to contact the seller (plus many sellers will simply not reply). Also now showing the back is literally showing only half of the product.
I understand it’s a pain in the ass when you have a large inventory to list though lol.

In general overall growth honestly. Even with 1 standard pic, I received many repeat buyers, that have bought $100+ at a time.

For auctions on High end cards, I definitely do feel the need to put multiple pictures, since they would have flaws and such that would be tough to see with a single pic. I guess its once you get a buyers approval, they know what to expect and confide in you. Because I also do feel sending tracked is very beneficial. I also believe that if either they are not satisfied with my answer, they will move on to someone who has a back picture, makes it a easier process and I avoid sending just 1 card stamped letter. I have pretty good overall feedback on all sales, so I guess being in the game for a while really helps with those who have that anxiety of purchasing or not.

I am not a fan of just stamping and sending, margin may be bigger, but the chance of loss or “loss” is higher and you can’t even prove you sent.

Auctions have the most issues. 99% of my buy it now listings are fine. If you run auctions you need the strictest possible settings: anyone with 2 or more unpaid item strikes cannot bid, block any buyer that wins an auction and does not pay. I am to the point where I vet every bidder in the last hour-minutes of auctions and block anyone I think is suspicious. PWCC does the same thing. Basically management falls entirely on the seller.

Oh I see. I was curious to know if you had noticed an uptake in sales because of the back pictures, however I guess the movements of the market are a bigger factor. I agree that by under stating the condition and operating with integrity clients will eventually go back to you. I’ve been able to build nice relationships with some clients.

Low quality meme

That’s one weird cringe-worthy feedback for sure.

What the fuck? I sell 100+ items a week, a decent portion of which are best offer, and this has happened to me maybe twice this whole year lol. Not sure what sort of stuff you’re selling to have that happen to you…

8 of them were charizards. one was a championship arena. The other was a set of plushies.

Interesting. More evidence to support my theory about Charizard buyers that I stated on the first page of this thread lol.

Sad considering how much you pay eBay/PayPal.

10 different buyers?

  1. I had 1 person make an offer on my two japanese stormfront zards, message me where i’m shipping from, and then just never paid.

Also legit just had another person ask to cancel in the time between that earlier post i made and this one because he didn’t see that one of my zards wasn’t first edition. So i guess that makes 10 unique buyers now.

Maybe Charizard buyers just don’t read descriptions or look at photos? They just search ‘Charizard’ on eBay and faceroll lol. Turned out to be a pretty solid investment strategy.

One of the reasons I have taken a hiatus from selling on ebay are the issues that everyone has stated above. I do not know how you never have any issues @zorloth. I’ve been selling on ebay since 2012 and i’d say that I have a DNR rate of 10% over these last 8 years when using a PWE. I understand that every community is different in terms of scumminess and that the yugioh one is not known for being the best in those aspects but I had issues when I sold some pokemon a few years back as well. I also stopped accepting offers from buyers with less than 10 feedback because i have had too many non-paid items over the years that I have just had enough. Not interested in hearing bullshit about how you didn’t have the money yet or other shit like that anymore.
