Do you have 36 packs? If so just weigh one to guarantee a holo and open it? No point speculating about what ifs when you could just open one pack and find out. Keep 3 light packs and grade them for yourself but I wouldn’t reccomend selling the packs as graded as the market for them is so small, the mystery is what’s potentially in the pack which graded packs take away a lot of.

I believe you will get the highest dollar from selling the packs sealed.

1st, i think break one to confirm if they are shadowless, and you can use this as photographic evidence when selling the boosters there-after, to help bring up the price.

2nd, compare the graded cost of shadowless cards, and think of the chance of them grading psa 10 holos… it is slim having broken many old 1999 boxes, i only got one psa ā€˜10’ holo in the last base box i broke… (yes… psa hates me… >.<)

The price of psa 9 holos given there is about 12 in the box will fetch roughly $31-42 usd a piece graded a 9. Exception being Blastoise, Charizard etc which will go a little higher, but if you sold the packs for $50 USD+ each x 35, that’s more money than breaking… and grading and receiving predominantly 9’s which is the most likely outcome of opening.
Bulk excess shadowless commons sell dirt cheap also… i sold 300+ shadowless for under $100 aud recently. So not much money there, unless you seperate and sell each individually…

Grading the packs is also an option…

What a cutie, third best Pokemon to me

I would keep them (or at least hold them) as they are drying up quick.

Nice find!

They must be confirmed shadowless to sell dem as shadowless. So I will have to throw things at you if you don’t crack one open and show us a picture

Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong but I thought you could determine whether a booster pack had shadowless cards inside, by the silver crimping at the top and bottom.

As we know, a booster pack can have all the telltale signs (front design and text layout) of the shadowless print run but actually contain unlimited cards inside. Like the picture above with an unlimited Clefairy.

But for a seemingly shadowless booster pack to actually contain shadowless cards it has to have the longer, more closely spaced silver crimping at the top and bottom. Rather than the shorter, wider spaced crimping.

This style of crimping (above) has to be present on a shadowless design booster pack, rather than what is pictured below.

Am I making any sense here or have I lost the plot?

like smpratte said I did open a base set shadowless box years ago and it was a very odd thing to see the last 3 cards all 1st edition. it had the shadowless green wing charizard on the side and it was sealed.I found it interesting was the sealed DID NOT HAVE the WoTC logo on it at all. was just the plain seal like the 1st edition booster boxes were. I only paid like less than 100 for the box and got the main 3 cards charizard , blastoise, and venusuar in it. most of the 1st edition cards were just uncommons. I still have the empty packs in my binder just for the heck of keeping them there since I love the base set cards and were always interested in them ever since I was a kid.

I’d say keep the packs sealed unless you want to open one and find out if they are all shadowless, then possibly sell them if you wish. but there are so many variants of base set shadowless packs its hard to say what to really do. same with the shadowless base set theme decks like I have seen 3-5 different variants of them all with each one slightly different by the outside
