Simply put if you put “items received not as described” you flop his attempt at being covered by eBay’s GSP and eBay refunds you by forcing the refund to pass from the seller. So whatever you do, do not engage in anything that could suggest you for a second believe the card was actually shipped, but foul play somewhere else down the supply chain is to blame… less is better with eBay and cases ESPECIALLY coming from the buyer.
@sacari , really sorry that this happened to you, hopefully you get your money back soon!
For anyone concerned with seller side protection, one way to protect yourself as a seller is to ask the buyer to shoot a short opening video when they receive a high-value item. If you specifically asked, scammers would usually think twice whether they want to open a case without the video proof.
I do this as a buyer as well for all cards over $1k USD.
How was the package packaged? Was any tape removed? Is it possible that it was removed? It is highly likely with his responses to you that he knows eBay international will take full responsibility. But it is odd that a member since 2009 with thousands of sold cards would scam one person with a card that’s just over a grand.
Yah really weird. They don’t have any feedback from this month and only about 4 in the past 6 months. Their IG is also really suspicious.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the account was stolen or bought. Or someone else offered the seller more money after I bought the item.
I looked over the package carefully, I was the only person to have ever opened it. The weight of the package in the shipping label was 3 ounces, the weight of the package I received was 3 ounces. A PSA case would of made the package 5 ounces even if the PSA case had zero additional protecting. The package was never mailed with that card inside. Also there wasn’t even room in there to fit a PSA case anyway.
Yea he’s definitely aware eBay international shipping will take all responsibility off him. You were probably scammed just for the fact you live in Canada and he saw an opportunity through eBay international shipping.
I would do as much as you can to prove that it’s impossible he sent it in the first place so he doesn’t get away with it. Otherwise eBay will most likely take the fall for both of you since he shipped through their program.
So the seller just messaged me to say that he is getting harassing messages from people from this forum. This is completely immature and doesn’t help me in anyway, if anything it hurts my case. Please just leave the seller alone and let me handle the situation.
The only reason I linked their eBay page was so others could avoid falling into a scam.
Please be better than this.
Yeah when you posted his profile, I clicked. Check who the only account is that “he follows”. No activity on selling for ages, but a lot of buying, and questionable buying as of recently. Very possible the account went dormant, was sold, email changed, payment details changed, rebuilt some seniority after changing those things to avoid any triggers from the antifraud system… and boom exit
Does anyone know a phone number I can call to get in touch with a ebay rep? I called 866-540-3229 and got sent to a recorded message saying I need to go through their online resolution center.
Also just tried 866-278-1053 and got the same message. I assume you still can’t make calls because of covid?
I believe your only hope currently is the live chat on the site I’ve had to use it twice once went smoothly the other was a moron and proceeded to waste my time and only serve to Piss me off couldn’t understand that her blanket replies had nothing to do with the issue at hand. But if you arnt having success just leave and get a new rep. The wait time is only about 2 mins
I have bought and sold to this person multiple times on instagram over the years and have never had any issues with him and have never heard of anyone else having issues with him either. If my opinion means anything i would say that what happened was an accident on his part. Of course i could be wrong, wouldnt be the first time someone turned to scamming after a long time of being a reputable seller.
