It’s the blatent scam attempts that people seem to get away with on eBay that get me. Without a thorough investigation and invested time to understand the information provided to eBay representatives, there will rarely be situations where the seller is favoured.
something I noticed in yours and the other guys case, the ebay scammer had the nicknames:
s.handa91
pipitamilan9
both nicknames are from football players (Samir Handanovic from Inter Milan and Gonzalo Higuain from AC Milan), so there is a high chance that this is the same scamer in both your cases. I would for sure contact the italian police, this is not acceptable. Could you also tell from which city the guy comes from?

85100 Potenza, Province of Potenza is the only information I have on this guy in terms of postal address.
If would be interesting to see whether any new usernames pop up with similar football references.
Im glad you at least got your money in the end. This thread has convinced me to cancel any orders from Italy that come my way.

Unfortunately this sort of thing could happen anywhere, even in the UK. No idea what would have happened if it was a UK addressee claiming to have received the wrong box. Royal Mail and eBay wouldn’t care less.
For Italy, it just appears as though more and more people are being scammed by Italians.
