As the title suggests, looking for previous sale prices of the 2000, 2001 and 2002 Battle Road Trophies. I am aware of the one on Mandarake but looking for others too.
Also, would people argue that a near mint BR Trophy has better chance to appreciate than 1st ED WOTC booster boxes?
Trophies are and have always been a different level of collecting. So seeing a value dramatically rise or drop isnât going to be as comparable to a 1st ED WOTC box since thereâs more collectors out there who can afford a box, and more more who collect WOTC.
I think youâd see better overall growth with a box, where with a trophy, itâs really up to who wants it, and whatâre they willing to pay.
Edit: Plus, these trophies are more of a âspecific tasteâ to most collectors. So the demand isnât same as the trophies before 2000, so the value wouldnât flucuate the same either.
The one on mandarake didntât sell. The 2 highest bidders did not pay.
Jeremy did a solid job explaining the general market. Trophies will naturally have the most abstract valuation, as they are the most limited items in the hobby. This pattern is identical in every hobby market.
As for valuation, there havenât been recent sales of most higher end trophy cards, especially graded or mint. Outside of the confirmed private sales, valuation is pure speculation and conjecture.
