Random SUPER TOUGH Questions! Need Pokemon PRO To Answer!

Hey guys a few quick questions, maybe someone can get them all for me…

**sorry for the spam subject title**

1- I have a 9/108 Gardevoir from Power Keepers that should be a holo rare but it is not holo. Is it a promo? what exactly is going on and does that happen with other cards in the set? I also have a Venusaur 8/ from Supreme Victors and on a checklist that I have, there are two available cards…a holo rare and a reverse holo rare but the card that I have is a non-holo rare. TCGplayer has it listed as “Venusaur (DPPt Supreme Victors) Deck Exclusives” . So it appears that my non holo rare card issue is happening within more than one expansion. Any insight?

2- With the e-reader cards, would I be correct to say that some sets have 3 versions of the same card? And if so which expansions? For example I have a 2003 unlimited card, 2004 unlimited card, and then a reverse holo. Do the reverse holos have two different copyright dates as well?

3- Am I correct in saying that the 4th print base set has a complete 102/102 card set?

4- What is the story with the “Cracked Ice” Charizard from Arceus? Is it a promo?

5 - Do all the POP cards come as a foil and non foil card?

6- Are there 150 cards in the topsun blue/green sets?

7- What exactly qualifies a card as being a “deck exclusive” card?

Sorry, I know that these questions are all unrelated and are random but as I’ve been going through my collection and organizing, these have been the questions that have stumped me.
Thanks in advance!

#1 and #7 can be answered simultaneously. the 9/108 Gardevoir is a holo card if pulled from a booster pack. However, they released a theme deck called Mind Game which contained a non-holo version of the card. The only way of getting the non-holo version was to buy a theme deck making it a “deck exclusive” card.

#4: The cracked ice Charizard holo comes from a blister which has one booster pack, the Charizard and a Charmeleon and a Charmander. So it’s a variant like Theme Deck exclusives mentioned above. I think the blister itself had a pack of Supreme Victors even though the cards were from the Arceus set, which is bit odd.

#5 Not all, but usually the rare ones do. The holo versions of POP cards always came from some kind of a special box or a blister pack. So you cannot pull holo cards from POP-series booster packs. Cards from the packs are always non-holos.

  • Are there 150 cards in the topsun blue/green sets?

There are 150 in each set + 16 holo cards. If I remember correctly the holo cards were obtained from the ‘green back’ card packs only. Mew is not included as the license only included the original 150.

  1. In the topsun 1995 / *some people say 1997* set, blue back / green back, i believe there is only 150/150, the prisms are counted seperately. But i don’t think there is a mew in it.

Carddass ones after had the mew.

For #1, #4, and #7 you can usually look at Bulbapedia at either the card itself or the set. For example, for the cards you’ve mentioned:

#2 Could you show pictures of the cards with the different copyright dates? One of them is most likely from some sort of Deck as well, or if it’s an Energy perhaps in a different language (for some reason the foreign cards during the E-reader era were still printed as “Energy” instead of “Energie” (German), “Energíe” (French), and “Energía” (Italian) you usually see).

As far as I know the E-reader set has four variations for the holo cards (excluding Secret Rares), which are: Holofoil Rare, Reverse Holo (Holofoil) Rare, non-holo Rare, Reverse Holo Rare. The difference between the Reverse Holo (Holofoil) Rare and Reverse Holo Rare is the set number, as well as the card ID and Pokédex information on the short strip as mentioned on Bulbapedia. For example, the Alakazam of the Expedition Base Set would be 1/165 Holofoil Rare; 1/165 Reverse Holo Rare; 33/105 non-holo Rare; 33/105 Reverse Holo Rare. The non-holo Commons/Uncommons have two versions: Non-Holo and Reverse Holo. Apart from some Decks I’ve never seen differences in copyright dates for the E-reader era, so I’d love to see some pictures of the cards you were talking about.

#3 Correct. The ©1999-2000 copyright date is available for the entire English Base Set. For the Spanish ©1999-2000 Base Set it lacks the Holofoil Rares (and maybe Rares as well, I’m not sure). The ©1999-2000 Fossil cards are available for all non-holo cards, as well as the holo Zapdos from the Thunderstorm Theme Deck.

#5 No. Most of them are non-Holo, but some have Holofoil releases in blisters. For example, the POP4 Pikachu (one of my favorite artworks) was printed as non-holo in the POP4 packs, but is also available as Holofoil in the EX Dragon Frontiers Two Pack Blisters. This information can again be found at the individual pages on Bulbapedia for the specific cards.

#6 Only one I’m unable to answer I’m afraid, since I have no experience with non-TCG cards.

Hope this helps!

Quuador
