I made this Instagram post and thought to share it here as well.
This Chansey has grown much on me over the years. When it was first released I was angry and disappointed that Pokémon had made Chansey ex have such lackluster attacks in the competitive TCG format. I was frustrated that they recognized Base Chansey for inspiration but didn’t make any effort to make the ex card actually playable. I viewed this card as being mean and disrespectful to Chansey, who had gone from one of the best cards of the game to a completely non competitive ex. They didn’t even increase the HP or attack, yet it was a two prize card! It felt like a slap in the face. Nearly twenty years later, I have a different perspective. For Chansey to be included as part of the first ex release was a high honor. The introductory ex in EX Ruby & Sapphire were not meant to be playable but rather to introduce the ex mechanic with beloved familiar Pokémon. The honor is elevated when one recalls each ex card in EX Ruby & Sapphire was a different energy type. Chansey and Chansey alone was chosen to represent the Colorless [Normal Type] pokemon. Chansey ex remains the only ultra rare set card Chansey, but I have faith that eventually a Shiny Chansey or other ultra rare Chansey card will be printed.

I was/am a big fan of Chansey ex when reflecting on R&S. The silver and green foil play off of one another so nicely and the touch of Chansey pink really completes the card.

Those are sick! I’m a huuuge fan of holo colorless cards, and a big fan of the ex era holo borders, and combined they’ve even better!
Got some new decorative papers and had a little photo shoot today. It’s nice when cards feel out of reach or unobtainable to be reminded of and incredibly grateful for what I have.

Exciting news for Chansey fans! A new series of parks dedicated to Chansey are opening in Japan! They are children’s playgrounds. How wonderful for a new generation to grow up loving Chansey.

I’ll always remember Chansey from giving the most experience from Sos battles. Now that was some quick leveling! @qwachansey
I’ll try and get photos of one of these places and post em here! I’m not too far away from Fukushima. Could probably do a day trip there at some point.

Bumping to mention I no longer have a complete Chansey collection as I am missing the 1995 play test Chansey 25th Anniversary Print and it will be my 2022 collection goal to obtain!

The 1995 Chansey belongs to the 25th Anniversary Set rather than being a promo and is by all accounts ultra rare, so nearly two decades later a new Chansey can join Chansey ex!!!
