Sup boys !!!
So I purchased a strong PSA 10 thick stamp Ninetales and sent it to BGS for cross grade (Ballsy move !!.. the rush is real !! ) … and I got back a Quad !!! Pop 6 and it’s in fact the highest graded of the population.
Im curious to know what you think the card is valued at.
And for those of you who don’t know, BGS can be harsh at times
I bring up Ninetales because i just think it’s an extremely hard card to come across and even harder to grade … something super nostalgic about Ninetales to me too.
Thanks fellas !! Hope everyone is bidding high and paying !!! Don’t fuck around !!!

The market value of a BGS 9.5 is below a PSA 10. If the question is “did I raise the value of the card?” the answer would seem to be no.
Keep in mind, a BGS 9.5 Charizard with 10/10/9.5/9.5 sub-grades sold for $72k a few months ago (which now seems like a bargain by today’s standards) and a PSA 10 Zard sold for $85k very shortly after that.
But then again, since your Ninetales is literally the only quad-9.5 BGS, who the heck knows? It only takes one person looking to complete a BGS quad 9.5 set. lol
But most importantly… who gives a shit? Surely crossing PSA 10s to BGS is something you’re doing for your personal collection rather than as an investment? That’s badass.
Yessir. I saw those sales. That 72k zard seemed like a lot of money few months ago… today; not so much ? All Perspective. To be candid ; I would rather own that quad ++ zard vs a psa 10.
But yes ; I did it to have the entire 16 holo 9.5 thick stamp set. I’m one Card away ( Alakazam )… no one will take my money for it !!
I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s downgrading.
But at the end of the day , a 10 is a 10. I get that.
But it’s all personal preference at the end of the day. Just having fun with the journey.
hey, first off, congrats on the grade. not to say i am trying to pump up BGS, but it is finally interesting to see some stats on crossgrading from psa to bgs for some of these 1st edition. did you submit as a raw card? also, how many of your 1st edition bgs 9.5 were cross-grades? care to share photos of your cards?
good luck on that last alakazam. looks like you’ve gotten all the big boys outta the way. i would think you might be the first to complete the bgs 9.5 1st edition base holos!
at the time, i thought 72k was an amazin’ pick-up for the buyer. today, it is even more so. in pokemon, there is always an opportunity to get a good deal in, even in times like these. just keep researching and looking!
Normally I’d say slightly less than the psa 10 but it’s the highest graded one at bgs so I’m not sure. If you have pictures of the exact same card in the psa case that can show it was a psa 10 before that could help raise the value a bit more. I think the last ninetales sold for $10.5k but that may have been almost a month ago which is an eternity in this market and prices of 1st ed base holos have been steadily rising. Based on the past price relationship ninetales had with the other Holos, I’d ballpark it around $13-14k as a psa 10 but that’s just a guess. Availability of the holos in 10 is so low that it’s really whatever the seller is willing to accept. It wouldn’t shock me if the card went for more or less than my estimate.

You can see my stuff there !
I got some pretty sick quads and quad+ cards.
Also chasing the shadowless holo 9.5 set ! Almost there.
In May of 2020 I purchased Pokerevs 9.5 1st Ed Zard for 24k… he almost didn’t let it go man…!
I will say this. I had a quad 9.5 card that I couldn’t give away. Several psa 9s sold for about double what I ended up selling for( all within the time I had it listed) and the 10 that sold was quadruple.
This was not anywhere near the price point. But that was just what I saw firsthand
Lost a solid 20% and alot of potential buyers. Example: do I collect PSA 10, yes. Do I collect BGS 9.5, no. I would have been a buyer of that card. Will it cross back unlikely.
Ballsy move indeed
But hey lowers the PSA 10 pop for that card thus making the existing copies more valuable. Thanks!
In terms of BGS-9.5 vs PSA-10, it did indeed lost a bit of value. But considering you’ve mentioned this:
Does it matter? Congrats on the crossover BGS-9.5, and being one step closer of completing your goal! When you’ve found the Alakazam, make sure to post some collection pictures on the forum of your completed set. Good luck in your search.
