Genwunners have yet to discover that eseries does not end with skyridge.
(Also expedition being considerably less desirable than aquapolis and skyridge doesn’t make sense as it’s got all the starters, all the pseudos, gen 1 legendaries all in one rookie set, the lack of crystals is not a big deal they’re just colorless holos)
Supposedly not enough Shinings and too many stock backgrounds. I disagree hard, Neo Genesis has great selection of cards which perfectly capture first steps of GSC adventures.
Instead of being a standalone set when brought to English, Pokekyun/Radiant Collection was shoved at the back of legendary treasures because TPCi didn’t think that a “cute girly set” would sell well.
English cards also don’t have the extra sparkle foil layer that Japanese cards got, unfortunately. Still my favorite set(s) though, with unique holo patters across the board.
It got printed into the ground? I don’t think Crown Zenith is treated all that poorly. It has a 70 card full art sub set with tons of fan favorites and some of the best art around.
The set is too small and lacks chase cards/shinings. I think that Neo Discovery actually is the best Neo set, with the best theme and some very interesting artwork, including the packs. Also, the boosterbox is a piece of art (and the packs, put alongside each other as well).
Yeah Gen 2 hits hard man. I wander if I had any even from childhood. Mainly gen 1 and even traded this girl for a ton of Japanese cards those were elusive as kid gave many of them away haha kinda funny to my younger brother around 2015 then a neigbors dad ganked all my good ones in some sort of trade / steal prices went up but were still cheap I think …. Thats my understanding I think my card sets from that time would be valued today at roughly 10$k + easy I dont really care much its more the stories sometimes. I dont think I had much Gen 2 they had really cool Pokemon.
Whoever says Kens artwork is D tier is lost because it never would have taken off not for both Gen 1 & Gen 2 along with many other talented people at that time. Worked with little and still managed to be very creatuve many other IP’s as well Sonic the Hedgehog / Streets of Rage / Mario / Zelda list goes on he also is a pretty humble guy one interview he states not feeling like he could live up to other anime / manga artists.
It has no gold stars, no “cool” reverse foils (I love them), very few popular Pokemon outside of Pikachu and some Eevelutions, and some pretty ugly ex CGI illustrations. So it sits and stagnates compared to the rest of the EX era.
My favorite set is XY roaring skies and it is treated unfairly. I’d love to collect a PSA 10 set of all the full arts, but Roaring Skies has horrible QC (despite being part of the big pokemon go reprint wave), which leads to abysmal gem rates and super inflated prices for PSA 10s.
