The Question of the Day is a way to facilitate community discussion to help members ponder the unanswered questions of the world that are somehow relating to the hobby. Questions are many times open ended and up to interpretation. Feel free to post your thoughts in as much or as little detail as you’d like.
Helpful Considerations may or may not help some people focus their answer, these are blurred to not bother those who have their own ideas.
I really REALLY wish there was a thread documenting all of the Karuta cards.
They’ve been there since the beginning of the franchise and are still getting released to this day. I’ve considered buying sealed boxes and scanning them myself since a majority of them are priced pretty decently but I just don’t know if I can commit to a project like that.
Irl playing the game, we all talk about collecting and the downsides of collecting but nobody really appreciates the actual game, while it’s far from perfect it’s much better than it was in wotc
I used to play as a kid 20 years ago and then started playing again around the time Lost Origin came out. From Lost Origin through Surging Sparks I was able to order enough build and battle kits online for MSRP (or less) and run my own tourney with my friends.
Unfortunately, all of the hype/hysteria since last Fall has made it all but impossible to get the B&B kits online so, since Journey Together, I’ve been going to my LCS to play in their prerelease tourneys with my friend group. I also played a bunch of side events at Worlds this year (and got my ass handed to me) and partook in my first League Challenge this last weekend.
While there are some things that could be better about the TCG and organized play, its still pretty fun to play as an adult!
Printing history. For me, the most overlooked area is the early printing and production history.
We have decades of scattered anecdotes, half-remembered stories, and rumors — but not enough structured, forensic research.
That’s the part of the hobby that still feels like unexplored treasure. Most people feel it is what it is but the real treasure hunt ..we haven’t even really started yet..
