QoTD: What makes you angry in the hobby?

“Why don’t you sell it” when certain people see anything of value in your collection

Individuals who let owning a few expensive cards go to their heads and become egotistical. Went to World’s for the first time, and in the open trading/selling area, there were a few people I’ve seen before on socials who were complete dicks. Huge fan of @smpratte due to his value add to the community, and humble attitude which I greatly respect. Two of these people have weaker collections than me, and overheard them being rude to a 12-13-year-old kid.

Other than that, I guess scammers are next

Human nature: greed, fear, contention, hate, jealousy

All things that could be avoided or negated easily but I find that when one of these are in the hobby the rest seem to follow

Everything has skyrocketed in price but my salary hasn’t :smiling_face_with_tear:

The “game” of landing an online pre-order at Target or Walmart or Best Buy or Pokemon Center sucks. Online ordering is less convenient than walking into a brick-and-mortar store and just ordering what you want ahead of time.
Sadly, Gamestop stopped doing in-person pre-orders following Journey Together :-[

With the hype right now it’s honestly thinking “I’ll get a better price on this card I really want eventually” then it skyrockets to unattainable.

I said this for Detective Pikachu PSA 10 when it was $100, Bubble Mew at $200 raw. Both I won’t be owning now. It makes me anxious about getting a card I really want “before it’s too late.”

I have a few cards right now that I’m hoping I can get soon!

When the bubble pops I will happily buy up so many cards I really want, but that bubble def won’t pop until after 30th an.

100% agree. Right after the Black Bolt/WF ETBs were revealed I decided to preorder 1 of each from the only LGS that was near me. Was the first one to ask about them and was at the top of the list. Guy at the counter said they’d be $60 each (a little above MSRP but not the worst). I get a text a month later sneakily saying they’ll be 80 each. That’s when I asked to be off the list… So outrageous people get away with these practices

I get the frustration, but I have been talking to a couple lgs’s in my area and their distributors are actually raising their prices to MSRP forcing them to increase their prices

This might not be the case everywhere but just something to keep in mind, the problem isn’t always at the surface

Simultaneously the worst and best thing about Pokemon.

Are you sure you want more attention on Rayquaza?

The people in the hobby who tried to sell fake cards in the hobby and when proven fake they pretended nothing happened and deleted any evidence doing so lol

Nothing, I stay in my own lane, I don’t allow other peoples actions to effect my mood or well-being!

My enjoyment of the hobby is completely and entirly in my control.

Being unable to actually get a Pokemon Center ETB ‘recently’ I got Prismatic sold them and havent tried since. Phantasmal looks promising reminds me a little of 151. Sad to hear bots were buying out many and got caught by PC. I may try but anyone else try it with the queue system even possible to get one or two? Hopefully those orders are not filled otherwise it will continue and less people like me will even have a small chance now seems even less likely.

When someone I don’t know use articles I wrote on E4 to advertise their listings.

I investigate backstories of cards because I am fascinated by them, not because I can hype them.

Rudy or Temu Rudy?

Went to a card show last week and it seems like every vendor there had the same price on modern sealed stuff and none would budge. And it was slightly above market, cheaper to buy elsewhere. If they sold on eBay then would be getting 15-20% less

I’m not a frequent card show viewer but I thought sellers had more incentive to sell. Guess they’d rather the product sit

For example - 151 booster bundles were $80/each across the board, no one willing to budge. I can get them for $60-70 on local facebook marketplace and cheaper than $80 on eBay. Why pay for a booth if you don’t want to move product?
