Sealed art should be different from card art and it should look incredible. I hate the way japanese boxes show you card snippets on the sides. There are several exceptions, usually because they’re not 1:1. Jungle Scyther works, Neo Genesis everything works, the odd EX render cutout works, they are fantastic and therefore forgiven.
Give me EX Dragon where every sealed item is its own piece of art down to the last blister variant and the theme deck case which all of 4 people collect.
I think that the artwork should be unique, one of my favorite examples of this is the original artwork for base set packs as it’s so original and creative
On the side of pack artworks being pulled from an artwork I think that there is an appeal to the uniform look of a collection that all has the same artwork spread across several product with slight variation in background, I think it would be enjoyable to have simple artwork similar to the gen 1 products where they had a couple designs they spread across several products, in modern times I don’t think we should be copying all of the complex artworks but I think we could figure out a way to get simplified artworks to put onto products
We got kind a of a middle ground to this concept in sets like Lost Origin. We have a radiant Gardevoir, V alt Giratina along with gold and rainbow giratina VSTAR, Zoroark VSTAR with the rainbow and gold treatment, and the gg Enamorus.
For these 2 sets you can display the booster pack (sealed or opened) with the corresponding cards and it would look sick!
I don’t think pokemon with shiny vault cards or full art shiny CGI cards should be on pack arts in shiny sets though because when 50 to 100+ cards get the same background-less floating in space treatment or a recolor of their underwhelming cgi full art it really isn’t special to me (just low effort work from tcpi) and I’ve never cared for the baby shinies or cgi shinies.
The Paldean Fates shiny ars and SARs were incredible, after years of crap shinies they finally gave us some complete real shiny art that takes up the whole card (even it was only 7 cards) I feel as though 4 of the 7 of them should have been on the pack art.
Long story short though - I’m for it IF non cgi art.
At the very least (as has been done in the past) put pokemon on the pack that have some type of special treatment (alt art/ir/sir/radiant/rainbow/hyper/shiny alt or ar/sar)
